Any Update on High Level Players Playing with Low Level Friends?

Saw some boards from a while back asking about issues when high level people play with low level friends, has anything been done with this recently? My main is high plat/close diamond and I found that when playing with my Silver-ish friends that every enemy was plat/diamond so my friends got crushed and couldn't enjoy the game. Made an alt. At level 26 I paired with a silver 5 friend and we got matched against 4 plat 3 or above and a diamond 5 in a normal blind pick... Is there anyway I can play normals with my friends and not get super high enemy players or am I stuck with arams? Do we just have to keep playing and losing until we are in a fair game? I just don't understand the system well enough to know if it's even worth continuing on my alt or not...
