Abolish Smurfing
Riot has attempted to make some semblance of actual balanced competitive environments, most notably within Clash itself and the strict anti-smurfing regulation within it.
"We don’t endorse it because it can ruin the game for other players... This means that if you want to play Clash on an alternate account, you will need to ensure that it is of roughly the same rank as your highest... They can get banned from competing again and their team can lose any Clash rewards gained." ~* source
So if it's not endorsed by Riot, and even /banned/ due to it being an Exploit, in Clash at least, then why does so much of the player base remain complacent with people who smurf?
I've encountered so many smurfs Pre-Season 10 in all of my matches, one even so blatantly smurfing that their account had two actual matches recently, and then /all of the others/ were from three months prior while Twisted Treeline was still a thing, i.e. the one gamemode bot accounts were rampantly grinding levels to be sold off by third parties.
People not knowledgeable in E-Sports that I've explained what Smurfing is have just been like "That's cheating!" "I'd stop playing that game if I were you."
The only rebuttals I have heard from people that yearn for smurfing were as follows;
1: It's fun. 2: Better MMR. 3: To play other roles without dumpstering your main role/account's ranking. ( Riot could fix this. ) 4: To play with friends. 5: It's allowed. 6: "DoEsN't PlAyInG aGaInSt BeTtEr PlAyErS mAkE yOu BeTtEr? IsN't ThE cHaLlEnGe FuN? (:" ( No because those players typically get a lead by abusing certain laners, knowing matchups way better, utilizing runes/champions currently trending/top tier/op and then converting that lead for their team, turning the match into an unplayable mess where the losing team might as well afk in Fountain because leaving the base is actually impossible with the 15/0 Draven/Thresh combo lurking. :) )
And none of them are all that reasonable except maybe to play with friends, imo. (I've played with 4 friends, 5 man draft pick and went up against a Master Udyr jg who just stomped us; their movement, micro and macro were insane. Just. Legitimately insane.)
Meanwhile, the downsides to entitled players buying/creating new accounts are as follows;
1: Sellers will continue to run bots endlessly into Vs. AI now that Twisted Treeline has been removed, maybe even low level matchmaking blind/draft pick?? 2: Matchmaking has and will continue to be skewed in ways that are incomprehensible and inaccurate as can be. The folks that climb endlessly and carry games put people in brackets they shouldn't be while stomping down people who should technically be higher. The skilled individuals smurfing get X amount of accounts into the Top % of the game, say Diamond and up, which oversaturates the pool(s) with the same players. So then the matchmaking really only benefits the Top % of the game much like Capitalism. ( People spend money to buy accounts, maybe even third party services for improving/cheating, and then claim the top spots for themselves while still maintaining lower leveled accounts to 'Have casual fun on' most likely.) These players are living in luxury while literally causing the ridiculously skewed matchmaking we encounter not even just daily but often times back to back in MATCHES. 3: It is demoralizing to X amount of the player base, from the genuinely more new and/or casual ones, to those who are trying their best but just aren't quite that good at the game, which is fine??? It's a GAME. To play. And have fun. 4: It gives Riot and League of Legends a completely inaccurate and false standing for the exact numbers of players they actually have in total, as well as within the different brackets of the game. With the rampant amount of bots and bought accounts, the total players existing in the game could easily be halved in all likelihood. This is /exploitation/ that garners to Riot's face value while degrading the quality of their product(s). It's no wonder the community is as vitriolic as it is and is made fun of for being.
To wrap this up, I'd like to welcome all of you other Summoners who are likeminded as myself who wish better for this game and community than people with throwaway accounts that they can unnaturally climb on, indifferently grief and harass on and switch back and forth on a whim so they don't have to face the repercussions of dodging X amount of games, or getting suspended/banned on one account etc.
I've devoted so much time, passion, energy and brain cells, too much, in fact, to lay down and take it like the entitled players want.
We all deserve a better League than we currently have, and it's not Riot's fault directly, but indirectly by enabling the issues for as long as they have while stating they do not endorse them.
Be verbal, make it known that their community does /not/ want smurfing whatsoever, that it is part of a bigger problem that is being exploited and will forever be exploited as long as it is allowed the tiniest bit of leniency.
