Additional requirement for unlocking ranked game mode.

With the change to the preliminary ranked placement system throwing more people in Bronze (despite a good 10 qualifying matches), in tandem with Riot turning the level 30 summoner accomplishment into a cheap cracker jack prize that can be earned in a weekend. I feel we Riot needs to do something to the ranked system to raise the bar.

  1. Either add a new division called "WOOD" for these players who hit level 30 in 1-2 days, or
  2. Add something to the requirement to play ranked matches.

There are a number of things Riot can do, but my idea works off the 'champion level system', where you level up your champions to level 5. Why not only unlock champions in ranked games for player selection, that have been leveled to at least level 2 or 3? This way it ensures players have at least a competent level of understanding for their champion.

Yes... I'm a little bitter. I've just come from a major losing streak where most of my ranked games have failed, despite my damned level best to carry, all on account that Caitlyn 's were 90 caliber netting into enemy teams while trying to run away. Or Nocturne 's were canceling their ultimate b/c they didn't know how to engage with it. And there was that one Chogath that didn't realize he gained a buff when he ate a minion or champion, so he was opening up his initiations with FEAST, until the team asked him "Why are you doing that?"

Why was I, winning 7 of my 10 matches, placed in the same rank as these players? Bronze IV. Last season, I placed Silver with the same score, and didn't have to worry about this in so many games. I avoid being toxic in matches b/c it does no good, but I do hope Riot hears this. They're not experiencing this. We are.

Pretty sure bronze is designed for the newer players. No need to add wood division

I've played since Season 1 release, and played season 5 ranked when this system came out, and still haven't "mastered" a champion. Realistically, spamming the same champ until mastery is reached sounds dreadful and not realistic. That being said, I don't have anything else to replace what you suggested either. It's the vicious learning curve of new players.

The new Season 6 ranking system placed players in Bronze III for the same 10 qualifying match score that placed them in Silver III last season 7:10. You had to win 9 of 10 to place Silver V. Even the pros sport win ratios of 52%-58%, so someone like myself who mains support and is forced into bronze matches, has a really shitty time climbing the ladder. I'm bronze 1 now, but that took 6 weeks. The number of DCers, quitters, and just overall bad teams you can't support/carry to victory, make the climb unbearable.

"Pretty sure Bronze is designed for the new players" - yes... so it's curious why Riot put so many more players in bronze with the new players, who previously started silver in prior seasons. I was happy to have won 7 of my 10 qualifiers, but when "Congratulations, you've placed Bronze III" popped up, I was annoyed to say the least.

Maybe not a wood division, but something to eliminate problematic players from the same teams as non-problematic players. Maybe a much harsher penalty for leaving a ranked game, compared to a normal one. A leave should ban then from rejoining a ranked game for at least 24 hours, and 2 leaves in any single division should result in something like an immediate division drop. This would at least keep many of the habitual quitters and DCers in the bottom 2 bronze divisions.
