True Sight Wards
I'm not sure really where to go with this, so I'm placing it here. Hopefully it's in the right place.
With the rise of Season 7, the meta has come to strongly favor champions with stealth capability. Some of these with lighter versions aren't affected so greatly, yet those with actual stealth have become a little too overpowered. The argument for this is that losing a mechanic based on a 75 gold item seemed a little ridiculous, which is obvious, and while Oracle wards provide true sight, champions like Twitch can see the range and stay out of it and still deal considerable damage. On top of this, the cooldowns for these wards is incredibly high.
I've been considering a balanced alternative to this, enabling champions with Stealth mechanics to become less overpowered, while at the same time, not overly hindering their mechanics either. My solution to this to keep the new wards as they are, but provide other alternatives to providing true sight vision. A good way to do this is to tie them to items. Support characters have items like Ruby Sightstone, Eye of Oasis or Watchers, and junglers gain vision by the use of the Tracker's Knife. My idea is to maintain standard vision warding on partial build items, but upgrade them to timered True sight wards once the full item is unlocked. A standard Trackers knife, for example, would only offer normal vision, but a Cinderhulk or Bloodrazor TK would offer enhanced true sight.
Doing this would place more demand on picks and bans in draft play. Players would be more inclined to use this vision in certain matchups, but players would still be able to gain 10 to 15 minutes of play time before their stealth became affected, and the vision would have to be replenished just like normal. I feel this would provide a more balanced approach to the stealth and camouflage mechanic, and make the game a little more playable for those wanting to counter it.
I'm curious to see if anyone else has had some thoughts on this matter. I'd also be interested to know if anyone has a thought in regards to mine. Thanks.
