please let somebody tell me how it works ranked if I was in the last season silver 5 can I get into Silver 4 this season, for example, or can I get into a bigger saddle than the one I was in last season?

Your mmr will be soft reset, which generally pulls peoples MMR down, so most people tend to expect to place roughly 1 full tier below where they ended. Unless you have strong reason to believe otherwise, I'd adjust expectations accordingly. (Your rank after placements is just based on your final MMR, not necessarily on your W/L ratio during placements.)

That said, mmr is not necessarily the same as ones rank, so if you're someone who had a MMR quite a bit higher than your rank (or your dragged your MMR way up during preseason), you could in principle place as high as plat 1 if you secretly had challenger MMR. Conversely, if you were silver 5 but actually had bronze 4 MMR, or otherwise dumpstered your MMR during preseason, you could end up placing bronze 5 even.

Remember though, placements are just a starting point, so even if you place bronze 5, you could very well end challenger if you channel faker and really go all in throughout the season. Unlikely, but possible.
