@meddler How do you feel on Anivia.

What is the team's feelings on Anivia after the mage rework and Frost bite nerf? Is she fulfilling the goals as the cryophoenix as intended? What is the communities idea on what Anivia's strengths should be?

Anivia's main strength lies within her ability push waveclear, zone control, and basically trap enemies which shines really well in the mid-lategame where team fights are breaking out.

I think she performs this really well, she did need a nerf but I don't think a direct damage nerf was necessary.

Agreed, honestly, the only thing i don't like about her is her ult-e combo. Its unavoidable, and has nothing to do with zone control, other than "Oh, you got into my ult/e range? let me just half health you".

Zone control implies that the mage can cut off pathways/force your team into moving a certain way, it isn't annihilating anyone who looks at you funny.

A few changes to it could be

A. E only does double damage on the q-stun, but instead doubles the slow of anyone hit by the q slow or ult slow

B. Double damage on q, and ult gives stacks on targets caught within, and e increases in damage depending on how many stacks. 1 stack per sec (total of 3 stacks in 3 secs) 1 stack = 50%% increase 3 stacks = 150% increase And perhaps q instantly gives 2 stacks, so you can combo q - ult - e for 250% damage

I agree with that image of anivia. I think the change to the ult hurts her waveclear image though. It should get larger at later levels. Her winrate is also not what you would think a teamfight champion should have. She wins early and loses late.

Hmmmm, I don't think so, her waveclear is just as good as it was before, what's debatable is her zone control. On one hand it is smaller at first limiting her initial zone control, but at the same time they made it grow to a larger size and increase in 50% damage when it reaches that size. Later on they also made it so that Anivia's ult will continue to channel during Zhonya's active which I thought was really cool.

What I think Riot was going for was that basically you would end up controlling a zone over time rather than just bang zone control. Also Anivia received sizable indirect buffs thanks to the changes to the items item 3027 and item 3070 turning her into an early-mid power house if she is snowballing.

Some notable things are mainly quality of life changes, such as the travel speed of her Q projectile, her E now hitting the edge of a character's hitbox rather than the center. Despite her E, nerfs she's still a really strong pick in the midlane for both ranked and competitive play.

I wish theyd just revert the rework. It did absolutely nothing for her. Shes just going to keep getting nerfed to oblivion because people are crying about her now.

Nerfed her damage twice and her ult growing is stupid. Shes probably in a worse state now than she was pre rework. In fact the rework didnt even do anything that solidifies her "zone mage" fantasy. They just shifted numbers around. I could argue that her zoning was much better pre rework because her ult would have an immediate effect rather than waiting 3 secs to become a noticeable size

Nerfs happened before, never on a scale this large but they always pushed Anivia into oblivion. Thankfully Riot was always quick to notice that and buffed her right afterwards.

Yes! You wouldnt want to balance a hero that makes the big plays in the worlds, right? :^)

Personally, I feel she is fine the way she is right now. Yes she has strong wave clear but so does champions like Velkoz Viktor Ziggs which all clear waves quicker with much less mana. Also she has a lot of counters and weaknesses and her Pre-6 lane phase is so dependent on landing her Q, which if she misses then she literally has no damage and easy to punish. Yes once she reaches level 6 she can use her E>R combo and deal a lot of damage but then after that you can just jump on her since she wouldn't have much other damage for at least another 6-7 seconds for her E and R to come back up (assuming you are good enough to dodge her Q as well).

Just play champions who can out-range her and poke her, her R/E only have around a 600 or so range. You could also play champions who can wave clear as strong as her and force her to waste all her mana just to defend her tower which is especially hard for her pre-6 with only her Q. Plus she doesn't do to well into assassins who can always jump on her and deal a lot of damage to her and then get back to safety like Leblanc and Fizz being her hardest counter.

She is not even played enough for people to really complain about. She has a 52% win rate which is good and only a 3.6% play rate which is very low. There are much much more stronger champions that should be looked at.
