People really underestimate how long it takes to actually drop from plat to gold, or dia to plat etc. It takes forever

Yeah. Personally I don't think it should take as long as it does but from what I understand a lot of people wanted some sort of protection against highly volatile rank because some people just have a bad luck streak and get a string of games where their teammates do really poorly.
