Black Cleaver, in my opinion, is all around a better item. If you look at his base stats, he has one of the best mana regen and mana pool of any champion. With that in mind, black cleaver provides everything he needs; HP, damage, chasing potential. Kayn (from my point of view) isn't that mana hungry, so if you were to buy trinity force, it would be for the sheen proc and bonus damage, not the mana.
