Can a Rioter explain why the matchmaker would put a team with a 400 MMR deficit on red side
Like... why?
Like... why?
That site only gives an estimate of MMR, and for normal games it's probably a really bad estimate. It looks like both teams had very high MMR players playing with players who haven't even hit summoner level 30, that's an incredibly niche element for matchmaking and the fact that it was able to find another premade high MMR + not-even-30 group at all seems pretty lucky to me. Also, low level players have extremely volatile MMR as the system is trying to determine if they are a smurf, and if so, what strength that player actually is.
No it doesn't. It gives an estimated MMR for individual players but Riot's API discloses team MMR when you check an active game. It is 100% accurate.

I stand by my other points. Matchmaking is very hard with high MMR disparities between premades and we have very high MMR players playing with players who aren't even level 30.
As to the advantaged team in MMR getting blue side, I'm pretty sure the game doesn't ALWAYS give the advantaged team in MMR the disadvantaged side, but merely weights the dice roll for that to tend to be the case. Otherwise we should have no data at all for blue side winrate when they have higher MMR when we actually do know that they win even more often in that case.
it was a normal game so who cares? XD also, normal mmr and ranked mmr are two separate things
Premade?
Premade?
From what I can tell it was Riven+Wukong+Thresh and Ezreal+Nidalee vs Kassadin+Caitlyn. TK, Ekko, and Karma seem like they were solo.
Ignoring the obviously impossible game for the latter team regardless of which side they play on, why were they even further penalized by being put on red side? Isn't the matchmaker supposed to put the lower MMR team on blue side to at least attempt to balance the game?
It seems Riot lied again about having higher MMR on non premades.
That's an unranked match. Who cares.
Edit: What website is that?
