only R and he got a penta on my entire team. we all had 100% hp he did ONE SINGLE FUCKING R and got a pentakill. he had 50 ap

Well if you stood next to each other and were all low then yes, he will kill you with his R. But most of his damage is from combos prior and after the R and his passive being proced, not the R itself.
He has great scaling and damage with no ability power. He also doesn't build much ability power compared to other AP laners anyways. His normal build path is

and he almost never builds death cap and will build morello's late if he wants CDR.
Brand is strong when people get clustered and the opposing team lacks divers. No combos, no damage.
