Morellonomicon is a broken item
20% CDR, 100 AP, 400 mana, Grievous wounds, and the best build path in the game. All for 2900 gold. Grievous wounds is op in the current climate. It should be 3000 gold at least, maybe 3100.

No. Morello is this slot efficient because Abyssal and Hourglass were nerfed and DFG was removed. The AP these items provided have been somewhat transferred into Morello (and RoA, which you're probably not going to get if you're getting Morello), but still with a net loss. With the upcoming nerfs to Rylais AP (-30 AP!), there's as big a need for a slot efficient AP item as ever.
Morello is a must buy on every single AP mid. It's is just far better than any other item. Leaving no room for different builds. It's even good on every AP support because of it's build path, the supports can just buy all the small items one by one.
You have the choice between Morello and RoA as your slot-efficient, mana-assisting, cheap-per-stat AP item. From there on out, you have a wider range of options. I you want damage, you go for Ludens next, or maybe Lichbane. If you want utility/defenses, there's Rylais, Hourglass or Abyssal to chose from. It's just not true that there aren't any options, and nerfing Morello will just force everyone to buy RoA instead, leaving even less build diversity.
RoA is actually shit compared to morello. Only is extremely specific circumstances is it better. It has the same AP, same mana, a useless eternity passive, ok 500 hp. No 20% CDR, no grievous wounds, horrible build path, and it takes like 7 minutes to even get there.
500 hp is a lot of hp, and Catalyst is an amazing item. RoA is very much on per with Morellos. Besides, how will nerfing Morello help build diversity if there's no new good mana item to take it's place?
Because it will make a choice between other items and morello. Atm is only morello. RoA is not on par with it at all. Ryze and swain are like the only champs where RoA is better.
Not every champion gets Morello First.

Most of these champions grab a Rod first item.
Nah not really, people do tend to yes. But they are mistaken,

Funny thing is these champs are off meta apart from ryze
Aurelion: 90% of the time builds a rod. Anivia: almost always builds it first. Brand, Yes. Ekko: 75% of the time Karthus: Tear and Rod Kassadin: Tear and Rod Lissandra: 85% of the time Orianna: She does in fact, She needs heavy mana early. Taliyah: Goes both ways. Azir: He gets Nashors first, followed by Rylais Ryze: Tear and Rod Zilean: Tear and Rod
you forget aurelion sol was almost a near pick/ban at worlds. brand was taken support. Ekko Top quite a bit. Karthus and Kassadin, not very often. Lissandra had quite a few appearances at worlds. Orianna: same boat, a couple times at worlds. Taliyah in the gutter with Azir.
Ryze heavy pick in worlds. Zilean also had a good amount of games in Worlds.
Just because you don't see them, doesn't mean they are off meta.

Mortal Wounds is OP on ARAM, but it's negligible on rift.
I think making a pass on the mechanic would be healthier than nerfing Morello's considering without the passive, it's in a good spot. Like, have the heal reduction scale with missing/current health instead of a flat 40%.
So long as soraka is a viable pick, I'm totally against nerfing morellos.
The core caster item also having Grievous Wounds is a bit too much in my books, heavily gimps sustain champions without actually tailoring your build towards it. You should have to buy an item specifically for Grievous Wounds, not a generalist item that also has it on top if you ask me.
Exactly, it's a must buy regardless of what the enemy team is.
