Item Varity - Counter with Items vs Snowball with Items

I think we need to introduce more items (with different stat combinition and more interesting passive/active) for the following reasons:

Our number of champions is increasing, but our number of items is nearly no change over 5 season.
Counter pick is part of the game, but it should not be determinant.
Some so-called oldschool "UP" champion will be very viable if proper new items are introduced.
"Bad Team composition" (immobile + poor cc + squishy) should have a chance to rescue their weakness with items.
With point 2 + point 3 + point 4, improve item varity can indeed improve champion varity in competitve play, which makes LCS more funny.

The current gameplay is more about "counter with champions, snowball with items". I hope one day it is more about "pick whatever you like, win lane/teamfight/game with strategic build".

the current gameplay is exactly the way you want it. probably check the entire shop for items and not just the recommended ones.

Your argument cannot stand:

If current item set can improve team weakness, you will have teemo or garen top in LCS.
According to lolking, have same set of most popular items:
How to build as to improve cc for the team ? What item will you buy if you are one of the , against ?
How to build as make the team more tanky? If you are one of the , who should you send to stop the split push from or or ? And what should you build?

Can you give at least one example rather then just state "check the entire shop"?

surely you cannot make a garen have more CC, but you can make a strategy and a teamcomp where that garen doesnt need CC. you cant make garen play the role of a nautilus, but you can make garen play his own role on any level of play. THAT should be your main concern.

every champion is unique but there are good items that benefit almost every champion in some way so it allows you to play and build around every champion. the reason they dont do that in LCS is because "meta".

you think they create their own teamcomps and strategies? they just copy the shit some koreans do, for the most part, and thats how the meta evolves. faker plays varus mid? go varus mid new meta. faker plays yi mid? probably not new meta right away, but if he does it 2 more times, for sure.

like, if people do new things in the LCS and crush with it, all noobs are instantly super surprised instead of thinking to themselves "hmm, hey, maybe we just overlook many things that are strong because we dont see them in the LCS. i should experiment more"

oh no, better complain all day.

also i WOULD agree to upgrade item variety to have different combinations of stats, but this should be done very carefully and not with a ludens approach.

sorry there is indeed a severe lack of item and build diversity except for AD bruisers and tanks, who have lots of bad builds (diverse in terribleness). APs only have 2 main builds and those differ only by whether they go for penetration/tankiness or for AP glass. ADCs have one main build that only 3 ADCs deviate from: Ezreal Kalista Corki .

thats only because you limit yourself, not because the game limits you. the lack of diversity you see in builds is literally the lack of capability and creativity your brain puts on yourself. this doesnt mean you are stupid, it simply means your view of the world is tunnelview and you can take this chance to upgrade yourself as a person.
