Aatrox needs some buffs

It is clear Aatrox has fallen out of the meta since season 5, but it seems to be too hard. He went to a decently popular pick to a pick rate of 0.8% (as of writing this in patch 6.14). He just feels lackluster in his damage, even when he builds all damage. Especially in the very tanky top lane meta we are in right now, building Aatrox full tank makes his damage nonexistent, and building him full damage can't do enough to take on the tanks of top lane. His scalings are currently not strong enough on his Q and his E to make his combo feel worth using. I understand his built in life steal is strong, but this isn't enough to keep him powerful enough to beat the other tanks. Some more base damage (slightly but enough) and buffs to his scalings on just his Q and E would make him feel strong again, and would make more people want to play him at least. He is a very well designed character that simply fell out of the meta because of everything else the rose up in popularity. If anyone else has any ideas or more specific details on television exact number changes, please add them, I'd love to see others' ideas and opinions on my simple thoughts.

Even with buffs, his kit is still just clunky and outdated. If the enemy team picks Azir then Aatrox can literally (i mean like, the actual definition of literally here) cannot do anything at all.

Aatrox has been out of the meta since season 3, he was used for a bit after release, then nerfed and kind of ignored since then, he would benefit from a rework to be honest. He has the stats of a melee carry but the kit of a bruiser, one of those 2 things needs to change for him to be good again.

If he is made into a melee carry which seems like the best place to put him then he needs a few tools added to his kit that other melee ADC have, he needs to have mobility that can be reliably used either to chase or disengage, right now his Q only really functions as an engage and some way to negate damage or CC, he already has the damage amplification that is common among melee ADC.

Here's how I would change him

Passive: remains the same

Q: less windup time and cooldown is reduced by auto attacks, loses the knock up component, applies the effects of whichever form of W is selected

W: Slight healing or additional damage on every auto attack(depending on which is toggled), 3rd hit heals/damages for more, healing still increases by 3x below 50% health

E: Faster skill shot, fires in a line rather than a cone, enemies hit are damaged and a mark is applied to the first target hit for 6 seconds. Aatroxs other abilities detonate the mark for an additional effect. Q: Knocks enemies hit into the air. W: Blood Thirst: Slows a single target, Blood Price: Deals the bonus damage as true damage. E: Fears the first target hit. R: Applies a slow the the marked target. 5 second cooldown.

R: Massacre: Breaks free from any CC or debuff effects, damaging nearby enemies and restoring a portion of the damage dealt as health. The next 3 auto attacks against the same target will be at a speed of 1.00/1.75/2.50. cooldown: 30/25/10 seconds, killing a target reduces the current cooldown of the ability to 5 seconds

He would still be vulnerable to being chain CC'ed and being focused and kited would shut him down, but he would actually have the tools he needs to function as a carry, a way to mitigate CC, and a more reliable engage/disengage.

I like your ideas for his changes, and my b on the incorrect knowledge on his "falling out." I agree that a rework would be a good thing for Aatrox in the future, but for right now, I don't if that's anything riot could put time into.
