while i agree hexdrinker is an issue.. escpally when compared to
which is an absolute shit item for defence
compare to the other shit we have to deal with.. its hardly even worth bringing up at this point.
obvoiusly the argument is if they are going armor pen they only way to combat that, is to buy
which would put u behind as a mage who needs mana to clear, in help thats you would not die during laning phase and alst long enough for you to finish
to surive the all in.
this will allow you to surive an all in.. but it means yur going to get behind in CS as they can easily freeze the wave under thier tower, and you cant reset to wave wihout using mana which u cant afford to spend wihout a mana regen item
the other option in to forget about the armor and skip seekers and grab mana and damage as u normally would vs another ap mid.
this means u will have spells to fight them but no defenses.
its a lose/ lose sitation for the mage until they get thier
AND thier mana item.
which gives the AD champ a compete advantage until that point were the mage finish those 2 items.
for the AD champ though its a different story
by getting
they guarantee they have the advatnage early game.
but the mage will outscale them.. so if they cant take advantage and actually get the kill, as soon as the mage finishes
and thier mana item.. then all the AD champ really did was put theself behind.
building Hexdrinker instantly giove u the early gave vs any mage.. but it comes at the cost of... taking an item slot.. and by mid game that advatnage will be mostly gone.. so u have to use it. and most.
overall its still clearly the better option. compared to what AP has but since you have to be good enough to get the kill with it and use the advantage.
most people would rather opt into going to "get my full build as quickly as possible" because if they build
and DON'T get ahead is going to be a time where the AD has
and one and a half items.. and the mage has
and thier mana item.. then they mage will have the advantage until the AD gets the 2nd item.
what
does is go
" ok you have the advatnage now, but if u dont use it, your going to fall behind"
and most people who are new or in lower elo cant use the advantage properly and just stick to building thier core items becuase using
while being a free win item for the easily game... also means they have to be good and snowball off that.. and most new players or lower elo players arn't good enough to snowball off the lead it gives becuase it required u to have the game knoweldge to punish the mage's lack of mana pool and deny them.
and in this meta where you just pick the most broken shit and abuse it... people dont really spend the time to learn how to do that anymore.
