How to Gank Vladimir

Vladimir is almost ungankable, for example take Lee Sin. You can't insec him because he will go in pool and protobelt out. How are you supposed to gank Vlad?

Riot can you nerf the duration of the pool?

Wait for him to burn his pool

As a Vlad main who dies to ganks: Let him push and gank twice. Hang around while pool is on cd. Bonus points you will tilt him.

You have mastered the forgotten art of baiting.

You are ready! To gank lanes.

Wait but there's more. I know everything about how to be a trash Vlad.

  • Gank lvl 3 as most Vlads won't have leveled pool yet then, pop his flash so he can't cheese your midlaner with his silly early damage.

  • obivously gank before protobelt

  • He might pool in the last moment but red buff can kill him in pool

  • Tell your midlaner not to push too hard, Vlad has to go really far forwards to farm

and this is how you roast a Vlad, ladies and gentlemen

You don't unless he's a noob who pools to trade with the other laner all the time.

But what if he gets ahead? Like your laner just dies the whole time and Vladimir is so uber fed he takes the whole game. There is no counterplay to that.... So good Vladimirs can climb the ladder easily?

Well in my games when I play as Vlad if I get 2 kills in 10 minutes in my view, more often than not, the game is decidedly over.

He's not supposed to get kills (you only have Q and very risky E) but if you do get a few kills in laning... OUCH for the other team. You will literally stat-check the entire enemy team to oblivion.

Unless they task a lock-down CC tank to control you later in teamfights and the rest of your team sucks... (ex Galio Shen Warwick).

He's pretty much free lo in Bronze but in mid and upper Silver you don't have that much kill potential in lane 1 vs 1 because of your limited damage; but you still are super safe and have free continuous sustain.

But generally, if Vladimir gets ahead, same as Yasuo or Veigar and the player knows what he's doing, you are in for a MISERABLE game.

Go to vlad's lane at level 3, try and have your laner use a cc ability (syndra stun for example) to force out the pool, then go in. Ganking vlad before his 1st completed item is your best bet.

The pool duration has been nerfed already in the past. If you're ganking vlad you're going to have to do it right an actually invest time in it. Both you and the laner have to be on the same page. you FIRST bait out the pool then you go in for the gank. of course he has both ghost and flash so you're probably still not kill him and one of them will probably be up again before he's actually out of position and vulnerable.

you need to force his pool out early.

you can try to just walk up with ward hop to him and either Ult him before he goes into his pool, or when he does wait it out and then follow up with Q and Ult.

considering his pool costs him lot of HP he should be dead by that.

dont gank him if he is ahead and has his ultimate up, you'll just gift him a double kill.

if you can kill him: from behind. he has no tools to escape other than his pool, protobelt hardly counts as disengage. wait with your gapcloser until his pool is used. if you gank him properly, he is forced to blow his pool really early and you can engage. you can kinda think about his pool like any blink ability.

for example lee sin: you gank him from behind, he is forced to immediatly use his pool and move through you because otherwise he will be kicked into your teammate. then you throw your q at the point where he will reappear after the pool is over and either you have a kill or he is forced to use flash (if you dont miss your q ofc..)

another thing you can take advantage of against vlad: vlad has a bad wave control. either he farms with q which has a fairly high cd in the early game and is single target or he waveclears with e which will push the lane super hard, no matter if he wants to or not. therefore its easy to tell when vlad will be in a good position for a gank.

Gank him before he has Protobelt. Pool is nice, but far less powerful for escaping ganks than dashes/blinks.

You don't gank Vlad. You gank other lanes.

Wat

Vlad is easy to gank...

Wait for him to use his pool before you gap closer, slow/cc, kick. Why is that difficult?...

Try to force the pool with other skills and save the lockdown skill for when he resurfaces.
