New to Evelynn, I need help on how to play her.

She's so ridiculously squishy, I can't seem to find the right way to clear with her and I'm always too weak to gank. I've been doing gromp/krugs then double buff but I am almost dead when I finish red. I can't find a good way to play her early, I'd really like some tips on what you should be doing to take advantage of her early game power.

look up some clear videos, it makes a huge difference to kite the camps back so all the monsters 'converge' into the area of your Q (as well as making camps delay their auto animations while they are moving towards you).

She also benefits a lot from AD marks with AP quints, which is an unusual rune setup you may not have bothered to assemble yet.

First clear:

  • Start machete, not talisman.

  • Never buy green potions (noob trap). -- Biscuits are amazing for jungling, just saying.

  • Start Krugs and smite them for the stun (works with your E).

  • Line yourself up on red buff so that your Q hits all three, kill the little guys first, then the big guy.

Items:

  • First item should be blue smite, then an Amplifying if you can afford it.

  • After that, build a Sheen, then start building a gunblade (Eve has AD scaling on everything but her ult, and her E empowers her AAs).

  • After you finish gunblade, finish up your Lichbane.

  • Then, Abyssal and Dead Man's to round out your build.

  • Sorc boots are better than any others for Eve.

  • If tanks are an issue, swap out sorc boots for Tabi, and build a bork instead of Dead Man's (works with your E).

As far as playing her, I can't help you there. Just gotta get used to her kit, her power, and what she can do. You can gank people pretty easily, and you can assassinate an ADC mid game. Lane ganks are safer than river ganks, since people tend to ward the river with pinks.

always remember that the e applies 2 on-hit effects by itself, and then boosts your attack speed massively. you can basically ignore wards, and your mere presence in the game forces people to buy pinks. she's definitely a gank-heavy champ in a lot of scenarios.

Love some Eve. I just want to throw out some advice on ganking. Sometimes what I normally do is start the camp wherever my top lane is. Then instantly right after 2 as soon as I hit it, I go for the quick level 2 gank top lane and sneak completely behind the enemy top lane and spam Q, and hit him with E, and more Q's. It 100% of the time always forces their flash, or their death. i always bring summoner 14 with Eve.

I encourage you to always do that cheese, it works and gets their flash right away so you can gank again.

Also when ganking, do not even go through the warded river, instead walk through into your lane and into the side bushes, the enemy cannot see you. Mid lane ganking is the same except there is no walking into bushes cause they are typically warded in mid. So just go straight mid, hopefully your mid laner lands some good cc as you start the ambush.

Once you do this correctly, Eve becomes the best jungler.

Also, get Runic Echoe's, and I would recommend building more tanky APish like getting Abyssal, and some MR boots. Try for Zhonya's, and yadda yadda, and guardian angel.

Serious advice:

  1. Eve has a huge advantage early in the game because of her invisibility. This makes her gank potential off the charts. You should play to take advantage of this by ganking as often as possible in every single lane. As you improve your ability with eve your chances of succeeding on any given gank inside of the first 8 minutes rises dramatically to the point where it becomes nigh impossible to gank in an unsuccessful manner on ganks that occur prior to second buffs spawns at 7-8 miunutes. Good eve players show up in every lane at least once prior to second buff spawns since the name of the game with her is snowball, snowball, snowball.

  2. Learn to farm efficiently. This means not only micromanaging and kiting the camps to take the least amount of damage (A typical start for diamond level eve players like myself is refill pot and talisman, do two camps (one being a buff, I prefer to start on the enemy junglers top side buff for a potential 3 buff open and the safety of avoiding powerhouse counter jgs like lee in my own jungle) and then back for a hunters pot (which provides crazy sustain for a sustainless champ (and better sustain means more ganks, more ganks means more snowballing)) and then do the buff you did not take and gank for top or mid lane by 3:30, moving to the other solo lane for a gank by 4:30 and meandering on down to bot lane (pathing is important, with eve you farm ON YOUR WAY to a gank, not actively, but passively as you make your way towards impact plays in lanes.) for a gank there by the 6th minute. You have to learn to take your farm efficiently in between impacting lanes so work on your map awareness and pathing.

  3. Mid game is hard for eve. She typically has yet to tank up enough to survive serious skirmishes easily and won't quite have the assassin power to instagib things easily. This makes positioning, flanking, team coordination, objective control, map control, vision control, and effective game plan communication the biggest priorities for her if she wants to have success. If you play her right the fact that her mid game is very weak won't be an issue. You've already snowballed some one, ideally mid lane, who can carry the heaviest load on engages in the mid game so your focus should be on finding and then picking the RIGHT fights to continue that snowball while applying heavy pressure at objectives. All this means that in the mid game a good eve player transitions from being a very mechanically skilled member of the team to more of a supportive team organizer and initiator which requires a high degree of game knowledge and in game awareness in order to maintain her effectiveness.

  4. Late game is all about the pick potential. One badly positioned enemy team member can cost that team the match. Your job is to organize and position your team so that a pick can occur somewhere on the map for free objective taking. If the enemy team doesn't want to separate and pressure every lane then that allows the eve player the opportunity to effectively split push as her mobility and perma stealth means she can unexpectedly show in an adjacent lane to turn a fight VERY quickly. The longer the games go on for an eve player, the more of a mental and strategic game it becomes. Eve players, more than any other champion, require excellent team organization and communication skills to be effective, as, strategically, she is the most cerebral champion in existence. Intelligent strategists are a must for those want to play her.

Going to quote the last time I answered this:

You're supposed to start at Krugs with Eve, not Gromp. Remember that her E both gives her attack speed and two procs of the Krug buff each time that you use it.

Route is Krugs -> Raptors -> Red (using your second charge of Smite on red to heal up.)

If you got anywhere near a decent leash on the Krugs, you should now be level three and with around half your health left, enough for a quick gank, or to head over to get blue or wolves.
