Classic skins?
Since Riot wants to change all the old splash arts and champions why not make a skin collection of all the old ones and just call them like "classic ***"

Because that means they have to upkeep every single champion's base skins and such when reworked (they DID do this with the "Traditional skins", which have since been discontinued as a thing). It's a lot of effort to, say, port Sion's green/white badly designed base skin over to his new model for the 3-4 players who don't WANT to play the unstoppable juggernaut but want to play Mr. Green Eye laser Dude.
