No clue who to buy

I'm a lvl 30 who mains support. My mains are healers for the most part(Not Janna) and a few damage like Morgana and Zyra. I want to branch out and start playing mid, I've tried jungle and just can't get the hang of it and the same with top lane. Only problem, I have no clue who to play mid. I own Ahri but whenever I play her I just seem to hide under the turret, except for when someone played a Maoki mid. I've looked into a few people like Talon, Malzahar, Fizz, Vlad, Camille, Karthus, and Victor, but I have no clue who to actually invest in. I have 6826 so I can literally buy anyone right now. Ideas?

Since you are comfortable with mage supports who do damage from a distance, maybe try Xerath? He is 100% skill shots, but he does some very good damage from far away, and some CC to protect himself. Another champion is Luxana, who is also used as a support, with good damage and CC that works great during teamfights. I think from what you have told me about yourself, these champs would be characters that you would be comfortable with.

A pretty simple mid laner who is good in the lower Elo is veigar you just gotta stack his passive(cheap as well). If you enjoy Zyra and morg you might enjoy velkoz too since he has lots of poke. Viktor will almost always be good you just need to learn how to roam with him and use him in teamfights. My personal preference will always be velkoz for when my team needs poke, veigar if I know I can win lane and last to late game and someone like ryze or vlad if my team needs a tanky ap bruiser.

try lux, xerath, ziggs, varus honor of mention: velkoz, jhin

it sounds like u have very passive playstyle, given how

  1. u r good with healer supports
  2. u just cant play close-ranged or mid-ranged champions that require aggression

alternatively, learn how to abuse enemy's cooldowns (both QWER and aa internal cd) as u play support really important if u wanna make use of zyra's 575 aa range. Perhaps changing ur playstyle at botlane will help u be more aggressive at other lanes as well

I agree with the suggestion of VelKoz and Viktor. Both are great mid lane champions. THe have burst, wave clear and CC. VK has more range while Viktor is somewhat safer (shield+speed on Q). VK has the advantage of being a fantastic support mage too. Massive damage combo early game, weird poke angles with Qs and a significant slow+knock up as utility.

LB is a lot of fun. Was my first mid assassin I got good with and she is not hard to learn. If you support main then Veigar may be the way to start too. VEIGAR is easy to learn but takes time to master and he can also be a nasty support as well when you get better with him mid. Also he does a ton of damage and when games go late he becomes a God.

i would highly recommend ahri, she is a jack of all trades but master of none type champ. she is fairly safe and always relevant with her kit which is good if you're learning

my second recommendation if you want an assassin type champion is diana. she is less susceptible to getting bullied early than some other assasssins thanks to her shield and ability to farm with Q. the only scenario diana has a really shitty lane is when the enemy is something super high range and you can never get into Q range, but you dont really have to fight them with your waveclear and roaming potential

other good options include morgana or karma, they are utility-oriented champions where you can help others carry instead of yourself. i saw some people recommending high skill champs like anivia or orianna and i wouldn't really recommend those, they are easy to feed on and have a high potential for being low impact or even negative impact with a bad ori ult or anivia wall

So, I kind of did the same thing way back when. Mostly played support and mid.

Morgana is totally fine to use mid and is super forgiving. She farms really well. Pretty much can go RoA into zhonyas every game and do great. Late late game she doesn't do as much damage, but she controls objects really well and her Q hits like a truck. Plus you already play her!

I'd definitely look into Lux - she's quite like a support. Has hard match ups though.

Orianna is really good also. She's a bit hard to play at first because of the ball but not difficult when you get used to it.

You might like Anivia too. She's a solid control mage, her lane phase is a little hard pre-6 but she's very strong and does a lot of damage.

Karma is similar too; she's hard to carry a game on though as she doesn't do a lot of damage late but really turns into a strong support late game. I've had a lot of success int he current meta on her. (You may already play her too). What I like about Karma, who is quite similar to lux, is that she does a better job helping ADCs I think than Lux does who sets picks up better. Plus Karma has some mobility in her kit with her speed up and is great at kiting.

Annie is also a really simple mid laner to play and worthwhile to pick up. She has some hard match ups but there's ways to play around it. And she can teach you a lot about roaming and going in and such.

Ziggs is also good. Poke heavy but a lot of fun and strong.
