Placement matches (5/5) - From Platinum 4 to Silver 3

So I just finished my placement matches. Went 5 wins 5 losses. Got placed in silver 3, a division I haven't seen since 3 seasons ago. I can only suspect that this year was a hard reset?!...

I'm not going to whine about it, but I will say this: Stupid move. Now let's see what is in front of us:

  1. Hours of useless grinding to get back to where players were last season. It's not just the desire to improve, we must first go through that grinding that does nothing and does not hone our skills whatsoever. I reached plat 2 promos last season and I was looking forward to start aiming that again. Now I must aim Gold division first...

  2. Skill disparity. You will get the true silver players play to matches against much stronger opponents. The game will become a routine: Which side has the player that will stomp the most. I've experienced it last year when I got placed in silver also (although at that time my preseason rank was Gold 4) and can only imagine it getting worse.

  3. Higher amount of frustration from players, which of course leads to more flaming, trolling, unhappiness inside the playerbase and all those other wonderful behaviors that you tried so hard to improve at the end of the season.

In one move, you hurt your playerbase, lower their moral and increase toxic behavior, nullify fairness in ranked games. I don't understand, so if one person can explain to me, I'd appreciate it.

Last season it took me 2 weeks to get from silver to platinum. I don't know how much time it will take me this time, probably around the same time. But I refuse to give this time to you. I take your decision as a way from you to make us play more, but in a totally disrespectful way. This also happened to all the members of my team (we were plat 2 in 5v5 R.I.P.) and we all decided that we've had enough. Maybe we'll come back after a few months of playing something , but your ways of dealing with fairness in this game has cut us out.

I'm with you on this one. Climbed from Silver 4 to Gold 3, & was super optimistic on getting to plat. But to think I might get placed in Silver or even Bronze from Gold 3... Yeah.. no.

It's just flat out disrespect.

I'm running out of hours in my life every minute. I'm not going to spend ANOTHER set of a few hundred hours just to get back to Gold III.

My time is limited on this earth.

No it isn't. Last year I happened to have the time to grind. Not anymore. Don't assume everyone has the time to massively play this game.

I'm not even kidding...I was Plat V and now I am Silver II. I played with Plats all 10 games, went 3-7 (ffs, TSM Bjergsen was in one of the games) and I'm Silver II. I am fed up with this shit.

I am demoralized because I played over 700 games Season 5 and this is how Riot treats me.

OP.GG shows u ended last season in gold. Your MMR is that of gold too. That was not the real TSM pro midlaner Bjergsen in your game, that was a wannabe named "Bjergson" who was gold 5 last season.

Despite that, bummer these resets suck so hard. I am not looking forward to finishing my placements.

i was G4, was in promo for G3... promotional match 8-2... got placed in silver 3.... i think everyone below plat 3 is getting placed on silver... Disrespect... on top of that, played with all pre-made teams which sucked so much.

I'm kind of scared knowing that plat players are in silver now.... I got placed in bronze after being silver 3 last season and I'm aiming for gold but I'm guessing I won't get there because of this.

It doesn't matter if his badge shows he's silver, he's not going to be playing against a team of silvers.

I read that. And for me, It still doesnt explain that big of a jump. OK I understand a silver 4 going to like bronze 3. But a plat going to silver? In the way this guy did? No way. Its ridiculous

That's correct. You're supposed to drop 1 full tier- at least that's the way it was in previous seasons. So what you said is not a glitch. What the OP said I have no idea.

I was Plat IV last season. I personally don't care if I get placed into Silver. It's actually really helpful that I can learn the game again. You should too. Now stop bitching.

Here's the issue, if someone wins 8-2 and drops from Gold 4 to Bronze 1 why do we even have placements? Just drop people 50% MMR and call it a day so people can start the grinding climb. Don't tease players by saying placements matter.

I care, because I work hard to get where i'm at and a hard reset seems unlogical on Riot's part. I'm Silver II and fearful of what the game will place me in once i'm done with my promotion test or whatever you call it.

I can't imagine the pain Plats feel fighting against such high skilled players only for the system to drop them into Silver which is 2 tiers below their original placement. The amount of grinding is cringe worthy to think about, and that's if you even have the time to try climbing the ladder since some of us work in real life or attend college.

So there are probably thousands of players who probably care because this reset seems like a middle finger to dedicated players and a cheap way fo make people play LoL.

Interesting - your whole plat team got dumped into silver. Now you are going to do 4 man dynamic ques and literally stomp random silvers from skype. This is somehow balanced MMR?

Sounds like you had shit mmr last season Seeding also is dependant on the mmr of players you win and lose against If your wins were against low mmr players then you're not gonna get a good placement

Excuse me? I was Plat V, I went on a giant win streak and was playing with Plat IIs. I don't deserve to be back in Silver, nor do I think any other Plat should.

My mmr was high, as in plat level. I played exlusively against and with plats. I'm trying to understand things by logic, not by assumptions. Therefore, ''sounds like'' doesnt help me at all.

I finished Silver 1 and know I might get low silver or high bronze. But Plat players being placed in Silver? So stupid.

That's because Diamond, Masters, and Challengers are being placed in Plat. Remember, ALL players are taking an MMR dip. And the HIGHEST rank you can seed into is Plat. You were not a Master tier player...

Don't worry Bae, they are babying you with the new rank system until Gold 1. It'll be so much easier to climb now. Plus, if you are a real plat, you will earn 24-36 points easily. I have, on maaaany accounts :D

Really? Hm. I was under the impression that you only dropped one tier. So, if you were Silver 5 you'd go to Bronze 5.

Made it to gold 4 preseason, now with 5/5 matches, because in 2 of them had afk people and the rest was just garbage I have been put in bronze.

Never in my life have I felt so insulted than being put together with this bronze trash rabble, I think im going to slash my wrists rather than playing with these fucking plebs

I finished Plat 4 the same as you in in season 5 (solo Q in season and pre-season) I went 5/5 the same as you and got Gold 1. Not sure what happened man. you must have gotten the first 5 losses right as you started your prov's because the first games count for more than later games.

I don't have that much time to play. Last season in the little time I had I got from silver 1 or 2 to gold 3 eventually. I hoped to spend what little time I had to play trying for plat.

I ended up in silver 3 where it now feels like I'm stuck. Getting loads of people in my games with platinum banners so they're in the same boat I guess, but it's always just a case of 1 guy on one team stomps the rest of us. If he's on my team, I win, if not, I lose.

I get into a downward spiral with frustration and start to give up games before they've even begun. I'll give FB then just give up and die 20 times because I'm on tilt so badly.

I didn't used to do that when it felt like I had something to play for, trying to get to plat.

Now it feels like I'm wading through treacle and there's no point trying so I troll.
