Why is silver more troll than bronze?

Now, I know the title seems weird but in bronze on the climb from B4 there was actual good players I played. Once i got in Silver V this afternoon, all It is are afk and troll picks like donger support who then proceeds to run straight at the supp and adc the entire game. I look into his game history and it's filled with troll picks into support, and all he does is buy spellthiefs edge than build full ap. He lost 6 games in a row of support teemo, and he's not deranked into bronze? I don't understand. I thought going up a tier was supposed to mean better players? Hell I might just try to derank on purpose to just face better players. What's the point?

Silver is beginner division. New players usually start in silver. Thats where you will find most people that dont know much about game.

Many new players get thrown into silver 5. This was my first MOBA back in season 3 and they tossed me into silver 5. I didn't know right from left and thought a Karthus ult was the game shining light down upon me in congratulations LOL

Yea honestly silver is a complete shit show. Its hard to get consistent competitive games. Really wish Riot would lower starting mmr for new accounts since it really hurts silver but.... they never will. I just include silver 5 in bronze to be honest... hell most the time silver 4 as well. Silver 3 is generally around 50% of the player population at least at end of the season. My personal most despised division in the game that I have experienced is silver 2. Always hated it in past seasons and it is where I currently am this season and can't way to get past it.

Because

  1. Silver has more "new" players than any other ELO, including Bronze, and their inexperience causes Silver to basically have no meta to speak of as most of them don't even know what a meta is.

  2. Silver is home to huge win streaks, and equally, big losing streaks. When people are on a win streak they get cocky, assume they're going to be Gold tomorrow and are vastly better than the rest of Silver, and start doing stupid shit that results in the beginning of losing streaks. The reason these streaks happen more in Silver is because the MMR pool is very large in that ELO range due to Silver being a cross road for many players. So you get someone with 1100 MMR who is falling because they one tricked "x" champ and then "x" champ got gutted, and then you have someone else with 1100 MMR who just started really getting good at a particular lane and is rising and improving as a good pace. They end up on the same team, with very different experiences and concepts of how to win the game and at very different places during their LoL "career." All you need is a little chance for this to happen 6-7 times in a row and your team gets dumpstered no matter what you do.

  3. There are a lot of smurfs in Silver. Most smurfs do too well in their promos to go into Bronze and usually end up in Silver. While these smurfs range between Gold to Challenger, their varying skill range, combined with the skill range of newer players, combined with the skill range of actual Silver grade players, create a total cluster fuck for the match maker.

  4. Silver is Bronze's neighbor, so it's no wonder why you still see a lot of toxic behavior, shitty computers and connections, casual AFKers, etc. that you would expect to see in Bronze. You really need to get to Gold before you can reliably expect everyone on your team to try and stay logged on for the entire match.

  5. Most players that are experienced but still in Silver, are there because they never cut down their champion pool. Most native Silver players rotate between maybe 20-30 champions as never actually get good with any of them, making mechanical misplays a very common occurrence that can result in games snowballing out of control very quickly.

You think Silver is bad? LOL. Have fun with Plat 1/Diamond 5 if/when you get there. Bronze/Silver are elo heaven compared to this range.

I've found mid gold to mid plat to be the 'best' environment in Ranked. Or mid Diamond. But that Plat1-Diamond5 range is cancer far beyond anything else you'll ever experience in this game. The closest thing to it would be low Diamond 1, but even then Plat 1 is still worse. But low D1 is a definite 2nd place for worst elo.

Silver is just Bronze except that all the people in it think they're good because they got out of/were never in bronze. It's a place full of unfounded egos and stubborn arseholes that will tell you EXACTLY what YOU are doing wrong... even if they don't know themselves... because they think they're awesome. Silver is where almost every "I deserve challenger but my team..." player lives.

It is a dark and dismal place.
