What Master Yi Changes should've been in 8.3
Introduction--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alright getting into this quick, Master Yi is getting some changes. For people that don't know, his Q costs less, W cooldown is reduced with a removed and added effect, E is still useless as ever and R is still in the Emergency Room.
Now i know the W changes were called off recently due to a poor decision from the Editor of this project Rick (I believe) and sure lots of people agree in YIMO that Rick from Rick and Morty would've done a better job.
To change a champion isn't simply to look at statistics and judge a buff or nerf is needed, they need to look into what makes this champion in that spot. People are plenty mad at Rick or whoever the person who proposed the changes that it isn't addressing Master Yi, it's simply a raw buff that only increases the scales of Hit or Miss. It doesn't solve the issues of the champion and the problems that the mains and players of Master Yi realize and acknowledge while others are completely obvlious.
Alright enough of rambling, the changes were on a good track except for the W change, the W change is where everyone was confused, then soon realized that they just got an arm removed without even knowing it.
Q (Alpha Strike) Change-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Q cost reduction is fair and makes sense, we use this ability like 10-20 times before going back to base and mana problems can be an issue, in fact, doing 3 Jungle Camps at the beginning of the game consumes all your mana (Assuming you used your Q's) and makes you sort of reliant on Blue Buff (Until Jungle Items).
W (Meditate) Change---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The W cooldown reduction is good, considering that move has the cooldown of half an Ultimate and heals for 1/5 of your health and, let's face it, nobody maxes it first, and you aren't supposed to. The removing of the missing health healing entirely guts the point of using this Ability, Master Yi uses this ability to survive a fight rather than actually heal because the healing amount is so negligible and is needed to AT LEAST survive (Hopefully) when used.
Now, to the new added effect, i like the approach of this because i just stated that this ability is literally used to clutch and save yourself from dying (Which is a 50/50 if we're being honest) but with that change it would encourage the use of it more to actually, y'know...Heal. I think it's a perfectly good addition, because it syngergizes with Master Yi a bit, because mains and players of him knowing that he's not mechanically challenging, rather it's decisively challenging. The Skill of decision making with Master Yi is crucial and using that ability to prepare for a foretold fight fits into that essential skill that Master Yi players have to exemplify to split themselves from First Time Players who use him cause they heard rumors of his snowballing.
In conclusion for the W change, i would not have the missing health removed, and instead keep the new W change with it, being an entire addition. While it may seem excessive (To the unknowledgeable person), if you look at other champions, they do have lots of secondary effects and having this wouldn't be too hurtful and will ease Master Yi in a bit with this moderation of champions.
Suggestion----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That does sum up my discussion of the Master Yi changes however, but i also did have a proposal, and on behalf of the Master Yi community.
This is simply a suggested change to his E and it goes as follows:
Name: Wuju Style Recharge Time: 14/13/12/11/10 Cost: 40/45/50/55/60 Active: Master Yi dashes a short distance going through enemies, enemies hit along the way and in his attack range at the end point of Master Yi's location are damaged for 80/90/100/110/120 (+10% Bonus AD) and are marked with Sever for 5 Seconds.
Enemies marked with Sever that are struck by Master Yi's basic attacks take bonus true damage equal to (The same amount from the original E respectfully).
This ability generates charges equal to it's Recharge Time and can hold a max of two charges. Upon gaining a takedown from Highlander, instead of giving reduced charge time, it gives a charge of Wuju Style instead.
Rationale--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So the justification and reason for this ability is that recently in this modern age of League of Legends, Master Yi is getting danced around. The only thing he has is a blink and an ultimate that boosts his movement speed considerably. His ganks are weak and lacks mobility like the true Swordsman he is told to be, especially when theres champions and Jungler's specifically that have some form of terrain movement while Master Yi walks around cornered in a jungle.
This change is to help him mobility and utility wise while still retaining his old E which some people proposed that they wanted Master Yi to be able to cut down tanks. So by giving him a dash, it grants him an opportunity to stay true to his Tank Slaying ways by keeping the True Damage but also being able to dodge Crowd Control in another method. And this is what people believe to be the core of his character, to dodge Crowd Control with skill rather than take it.
Additional reasons why others like myself approve of this change is that the E helps with ganks due to it's gap closing abilities and enables terrain movement. And to respect the playstyle of Master Yi, the True Damage is only activatable by landing the E, wihich means that he has to get in to get rewarded for his abilities which stays true to his champion playstyle that i believe.
There are plenty of more reasons why this would be better but i'd rather not turn this to large. Thank you for reading.
