Very New

Hey everyone so I'm pretty new to the Moba genre, I understand the basics, take down towers and get to the end. Really looking for a more detailed guide to the game though. Everyone gets very salty with me because I don't know most champs and how to use there abilites. I don't really understand everything about summoners rift as in lane changes and such and people will get salty with me on that as well. If people could please help me out that be great all I find on youtube are basic tutorials that haven't explained anything to me.

What role are you playing? What Champions? What are you trying to understand that isn't clicking?

I think it's mainly the movement of the play, like I was playing annie in aram and I didn't know how to use her stun at all, and I got insulted for it. I've been playing mid malz damage and karma and nami support. And on Summoners rift I thought u were supposed to pick a lane and stay there but everyone moves around so much and i get confused. Everyone I ask for help just tells me to look it up and I really don't find much. I've found videos on champs but I need to have it explained as if I've never played a moba before lol really just wanna make people less frustrated and start winning matches

Well you stay in one lane until around 15:00 min in which case youll move around trying to take objectives (kill towers and inhibitors) and get kills. The mid laner and the jubgler usually move around to try and get kills in a lane. Moving into a different lane to help get kills is called "ganking". As for learning the game I recommend only using one champ for now and getting really good at them.

There's a few guides on youtube that are actually helpful, and tbh you're better off muting people until you learn the game. The community for the most part isn't New Player friendly. Like for Annie's Stun it's you used 4 moves and then the next offensive move you use, will be a stun.

The main point is, you just gotta play and learn, people will be frustrated with you whether you are new or one of the best players out there.

On summoners rift you have 3 lanes and a jungle. The laners for the most part stay in lanes But can roam to another area to give temporary assistance to either help like... help kill the enemy laner or take a tower or such.

What exact thing are you trying to learn about though, i understand the entire game, but that's too broad. Try starting with like.. Laning and which lane and i might be able to help you with a better explanation.

I play malzahar mid most or I play support pretty new to support not sure I understand how important they really are, so maybe not the best option for me rn? but I've been doing mid or bottom lane jungle I don't understand what so ever. But like I'll be in the bottom lane all of a sudden my entire team is is one lane thats when I get confused if that makes more sense?

Ill help explain botlane mainly because i don't play malz enough to be able to give you any helpful advice with it.

Supports( despite what most will tell you ) dictate mainly how the botlane will go. They control how most of the fight's start or end, control (95% of the time) how the warding around the area is and on objectives such as dragon or baron (baron is the giant purple mutant lizard in the top side of river) to make sure the enemy team cant just go for it or gank your lane (ganking is when an extra person or people come into your lane to attempt to get a kill or pressure you out and get something)

Since bot lane has 2 people in it most try to either snowball (snowball means giving a lead and building that lead into an unstoppable rampage or such) or hinder that lane since the ADC can be the strongest in the match if snowballed.

Sometimes the enemy team will send either all or almost all of their team to try and kill your botlane to try and get a lead (if by kills or taking your tower for extra map pressure and gold) and if the reaction if good, your team may just as well come bot as well to try and save you along with kill the enemy team to counter their attempts for the lead... you may end up getting the lead yourself or a tower for pressure.

Idk if i explained that right, hope it helps though

I was in a game tonight on Soraka playing sup, and my adc told me that I shouldn't be warding. I wanted to ask him why then does the first item I buy come with four ward charges, but typing in game usually ends in the team calling me a feeder, lol.

I think you got it, the first person to explain supping to me, I was on MF, gave me $#!+ for killing minions and said my job was to poke their adc leaving the minions to her. That is so the adc can get last hits on the minions, and get fed gold to get better items. I learned the latter from playing. I so suck at getting last hit.

Supports basically give up resources for the adc, that falls within things like CS (CS meaning Creep Score aka minions) think of yourself as "The Guardian" depending on what support you play, you basically babysit your adc till they get all grown up and strong. Your main source of income as a support is items like item 3301 item 3302 item 3303

It is ok for a Support to soften up minions so the ADC can last hit them. This is important when last hitting under tower.

I forget the general rule to last hitting minions under tower. It's like 2 tower hits + an autoattack to kill a melee and 1 autoattack + a tower hit + 1 autoattack to kill a caster. When they are at full HP.

That makes sense I just don't know If i'm supposed to stay where I am or if I need to go where everyone else is when a gank happens, do only certain lains do certain things? Or am I supposed to stop whatever I'm doing and go with everyone when someone is getting ganked. I'm sorry if I'm being complicated I just really like this game I want to know what I'm doing instead of button mashing

Gary B Enkelis1 votes

I think it depends on the situation. Sorry that's vague.

To be honest I haven't a ******* clue I just wing it. Most importantly when I play, if my tower is the first to go down, I am dissappointed in my position. Granted, If your doing your job to well thier whole team will come down and roflstomp you and take your turret. But if the guy up top takes thier turret it creates complete chaos, and fills me with a little pride.

You will learn as you go.

Alright, I just don't get it when I'm have issues and in game people yell at me instead of helping me figure it out.

Yell? As in type in all caps? Or pinging until you want to take a baseball bat to your computer sound system?

As I said earlier, as you get better that gets worse. But pay attention to what they are saying, pings to retreat are the most important. Thier are some good leaders out there. I just wish I could set my hotkeys out of game, I am having a real hard time with knowing all the keys, did you know S was to stop auto attack?

Here is what I do, for the type A's tune em out. They are the ones that are so obsessed with x/y/z that they justify a high Y with a high X. Low y's are what win games, so don't worry to much about it.

It's funny, thanks for this talk now I feel a little better about how bad I am at certain roles.

Geauxx1 votes

It's a situational thing tbh, but if you're support and bot lane is getting ganked try to protect your adc (only if you actually can, if you cant just leave because there is no point in giving up both kills)

if the enemy support ends up roaming to mid lane to try and gank for his midlaner, only if you can, sometimes it better to just stay and pressure bot to get tower, follow him to the midlane to counter gank.

I'm sorry im not able to explain in very very specific detail, these are things that are easier to explain as they happen since there are many manyyy different scenarios and situations that could make something happen.

btw don't worry mate, the only bad question is the question that was never asked.

Support is important because they sacrifice gold from killing minions and champions so their team mates can get ahead. There are 3 Lanes and a Jungle, but 5 players, so resources are limited. Supports willingly give up the resources so everyone else can get ahead.

Supports have options through cheap utility items and gold generation from a Mastery (Bandit) or Runes or the starting Support items (item 3301 item 3303 item 3302 ). They also get gold for assisting in kills. Supports prefer to not get the kill because it is more gold than an assist, and they want other roles to get ahead. Assist gold is enough.

item 1001 item 2049 item 2043 item 3364 are core items on Supports and cheap. Other roles can get Support focused items but they sacrifice other big items.

Supports are weaker because they don't get lots of gold to buy big items, but they are still important. Supports are often champions that are less reliant on items. They have buffs or heals or crowd control (CC for short) or other sorts of utility that is effective with or without items. For example: Bard creates a portal for the team to pass through, and this is unaffected by most items other than items with CDR (Cool Down Reduction) so he can cast it more frequently.

CDR is a good stat on Supports and many of their items include it. There is a hard cap on how much CDR we can have, which is 40%. If you have items, runes, buffs, or anything else that would give you over 40% then it becomes wasted. The "Intelligence" Mastery is an exception that adds 5% CDR above the cap.

So about annie, Is it like I'm supposed to stay out and just throw hits here and there and then when I get stun I jump in battle? Some characters aren't explained well enough for me.

Geauxx1 votes

You can do that, it is by no means a bad choice, the reason it isn't explained is high detail is because you can combo it.

Like say you have 3 stacks on your passive and only need one more spell for your stun right? you can bait the enemy into thinking it's not up that soon and can walk up and use a quick W and then Q instantly after along with an ult or so. ( the W for damage and the instant casting that gives the stun and Q will stun them). They leave some things broad because you can make a broad amount of choices

Hi there I am new too, only 2 weeks in. I would recomend playing bot games until your comfortable with the champ you're playing. I only play beginner matches until I am comfortable, then I hop into blind.

As for the other players don't sweat it to much. It starts to get worse the better you get. I know the guy above me posted to stick with one champ, and I am going to advise against it. Pick 2 different roles, you have the rune and mastery pages for it, and bot with them. It is a team oriented game, and being able to be flexible is better for the team.

As for the other players don't sweat it so much. But I will warn you if you start advancing to quickly they become more demanding. Oh and one more thing, play close attention to the people you play against they will teach you the most.

This may not be what you're looking for, but if you can focus on last hitting the minions in your lane then you will be on your way to improvement. People recommend 100 minions by 10 minutes, but that's at the highest level of play.

Another basic is to not die. So if you walk too far past your minions and die, be more cautious next time. You want to combine this caution with killing minions.

If you choose to Support then you choose to give up killing minions so that the rest of your team can get the gold from killing minions. Still be cautious.

Play every champion and every role so you can understand what they're doing and how to fight or help them.

Check your minimap often. Your minimap is one of your greatest tools. The minimap lets you know where people are (if you see them) and to play cautious if you don't see them. The minimap helps you decide where to roam, but knowing when to roam is also tricky.

Get used to using your trinket. item 3340 puts a ward on the map so that you can see when enemies pass by an area with Fog of War. You will see them on your minimap. Be cautious when warding. The enemy could be hiding in a bush, waiting to kill you.

With what do you still have problems? I wouldn't want to write that was already answered here by others. Who did you play already and what lanes did you go with them? What got you frustrated? Do you understand roles in games and objectives?

Try HotS, this game is going down in flames.
