What Will Happen When Kayn Kills Jayce/Gnar?

I was thinking about this earlier when I read_ Kayn's_ passive. It says that when you kill a ranged champ, you get progress on going into the blue form, and melee you progress into red. But what about and ? Is it based on their current forms? Or will be ranged, and melee, or the other way around?

I know this post is a bit old but I've played against Gnar as Kayn. If you attack Gnar while he's in his small raged form= Assassin. Mega Gnar=Rhaast. Same with Nidalee. Attack mainly while she's in cat form? Rhaast. Attack her wile she's in human form? Assassin. I imagine its the same for Jayce. Melee Rhaast and Ranged Assassin.
