Why Lux's Ultimate is Unfair to Her Team
Lux's ultimate, Final Spark, has the following passive ability: If Final Spark kills an enemy champion 10% / 30% / 50% of its remaining cooldown is refunded.
This wasn't always part of her kit, and was added relatively recently as a buff. However, it can sometimes be unfair to her team and actually be harmful in fights. As a long time Lux player, I know it's not always best to save the ultimate to kill low health targets. Sure, this is fun and a great tool for enemies running away, but it's often useful to help the team lower enemy health bars to begin with (for grievous wounds, executes, etc.). The current state of this ability actually motivates Lux to save her ultimate for the kill and encourages selfish play.
You can say, "A good Lux player wouldn't save her ultimate or try and kill steal and it's just a learn to play issue." You might be right, but then the good Lux players are missing out on a component of her kit. The reward for playing smart and tactical in order to help your team, is actually negating part of her power budget. This is anti-intuitive and assists should count towards the reduced cooldown reduction.
There are probably more, but a few champions I can think of that have resets upon kills or assists are: Akali: Shadow Dash (R) - A charge is added upon kill or assist. Katarina: Voracity (Passive) - Whenever an enemy champion dies that Katarina has damaged in the last 3 seconds, her ability cooldowns are reduced by fifteen seconds (this includes her ultimate). Tristana: Rocket Jump (W) - Resets upon kill or assist Kha'Zix: Leap (E) - Resets upon kill or assist
Maybe I'm wrong, but I do not know of another champion that has a reduced cooldown or reset mechanic that ONLY works off kills. This encourages bad selfish play, and punishes good players by not allowing them full access to her power budget. In order to remedy this, I think the ability should allow assists to reduce the cooldown. If that's too OP, then perhaps adjusting the cooldown reductions would balance it out - Say 10% / 20% / 40%.
