Ekko adjustments on the 6.11 PBE

5/17 PBE Update

I think they are definitely headed in the right direction. Though looking at the suggested value the slow ramp on Q per 100 AP seems too high, since you can get 100% slow with 700 total AP.

Most likely the developers are doing some boundary testing to see how a round number like 10% feels and will dial it back if it is too oppressive. Won't be surprised if the slow ramp ends up in the 5% - 7% range when the patch releases in a couple of weeks (giving it +35% - 49% additional slow if you look at a 700 total AP Ekko. Opposed to a +70% additional slow).

Some other balance changes that seem extreme in the notes, but not talking about those, just the Ekko adjusts.

Meddler already said they're probably going to give the AP scaling slow dimishing returns on the AP scaling.

Though really, 700 AP isn't exactly super easy to get, especially with his usual builds that include items like Lich Bane and Zhonya's over particularly high AP items like Luden's and even Deathcap. I think a 100% slow (it actually becomes a root) might not be a terrible thing considering he won't even have it until absolute full build and it could help him hold people down so he can ult onto them for full damage output, which is already hard enough to do.

I definitely like the added scaling to Q, because holy shit is that skill unrewarding when hit with the first part with only, when you're going super squishy burst. I doubt the 0.2 would be so much better than 0.1 scaling but it's definitely a step in the right direction. As for the slow ramp, probably going to add some diminshing returns, though the games where you end up with 700 ap with the new ap items are few and far between.

that 10% should really be 5-7% considering that most full ap builds have at least 600 ap these days

theres diminished returns on his Slow, after 400 ap

Honestly a 700 AP Ekko with a root is far less toxic than a tank ekko strolling around doing whatever he wants the entire game without any way to stop him.

People just keep posting worried about a 100% slow - Meddler has already stated that they aren't going to let that happen. The last thing they want is to give him what would amount to a guaranteed stun (get 100% slow then parallel convergence). They will either go with diminishing returns or scale back the % gained from AP to ensure that it's a workable number.

Most people are playing Tank Ekko so they barely have the AP which it isnt a problem. But for those that play AP Ekko it is a problem.

I hope they deal with it, 100% slow is a pain in the ass.

Not even Nasus Wither slows people by 100%.

They're removing the base values of Ekko's skills in favor for scaling values which I agree I think is exactly what is needed. It will fix the issue that is tank Ekko while allowing AP Ekko to still be playable.

Riot listened to the community, which is cool.

Wouldn't it be easier to just put a cap on the maximum possible slow Ekko's Q can have?so the slow maximum would be 60% just like the slow we have now
