What I want from the next enchanter champion

I hope she has more interesting game play tools than current enchanters. Rather than point and click shield or heal she should have something like thresh's shield that you choose where to throw out. Another good example of support skill expression is Ana from OW, skillshot heals/shields is a mechanic that's used so much in other games and it could probably also work in League.

I also think they should have some offensive. Nami is a good example of an enchanter bc she can engage if she needs to and she can also use her tools to defend allies. Nami's engage also isn't overbearing or too op, it's a good mix of defensive and offensive.

This one goes with the point above, but I hope she isn't super defensive. Janna is kind of an example of this. Janna is one of my favorite champions I can still see flaws w/ her gameplay pattern. She's sometimes annoying to play against because she can just press q or r as a get away button.

As long as the new enchanter is nothing like Janna or Morgana and is more skill oriented than them and Lulu I will be at least content with the new enchanter.

Sukishoo2 votes

Well they only make new champs when they can bring something new to the game, so it should be fairly different from the existing Enchanters.

saltran4 votes

Morgana isn't a enchanther what the actual fuck.

Z3Sleeper6 votes

She toes the thin line between Catcher and Enchanter. 90% of the time she's picked primarily for her Enchanter aspect (Black Shield) rather than her Catcher tools (Q and R).

I mean I disagree with the 90/10 ratio. I would say it is more 50/50 because laning her Q against competent players is near impossible without prior CC being applied. While black shield is used consistently as a way to allow her team to engage or disengage and play dangerously without repercussions.

This comment literally defines why it is 90/10.

My hope is for more male enchanters.

Is my man Ivern not enough for you?! Are you not entertained!?

Larriet2 votes

I really do have to get around to playing him, because he's who I'd like to play in Jungle!

Bard Rakan Taric I think these are the only (edit: OTHER) ones that can pass for Male Enchanters

BottleCapster1 votes

I would love more male enchanters, but I do also have to chime and mention that the last female support was Nami. We actually haven't had a female support in a Looooooooong time.

Larriet1 votes

I totally feel you. I guess my hope is for more supports to come out, though :P

GreenKnight5 votes

Why do you think it's a woman? Have i missed some info about it?

Anyway, i'm looking forward to it. I was afraid Riot would stop making enchanters, seeing how many problems they make for balance.

Sukishoo5 votes

And what makes you think it's a he?

LeafyGreen2 votes

I hope its a girl.. even though literally all enchanters are girls most recent support champions have been guys

CasterGilgamesh4 votes

i kinda still hope the new support is a hot guy but ill settle for something that doesnt attract hate from the boards

Sheemo on e6212 votes

i hope the new support is a transgender cross-fitting vegan with 1 leg, is that too much to ask?

Still waiting for a second male enchanter... I mean, Taric is cool and all, but the enchanter role is massively female and lacks new additions, so a 7th enchantress, while needed, is far from being as interesting as a 2nd enchanter (at least for me...).

Tormentula3 votes

I think its a regular mage-like enchanter that summons cats as pets (or is vastayan with cat like features), possibly an enchanter that has a "thief" mechanic which supports in a unique way compared to other enchanters; by denying.

If you turn captions on, Reav3 puts a lot of emphasis on "attached to" which sounds like they're going to be in your face or constantly on you with something (thief or pets always on you), and they spelled "perfect" as "puurfect" hinting towards the cat theme.

DarkKatalyst3 votes

I really do want to see more enchanters like Nami. She's so good at engaging and disengaging the enemy, meaning as a support, I can have fun while doing my job.

1 Word I want about this champion that affects gameplay the most...

Books.

BottleCapster1 votes

for the love of god yes. I want a character who actually uses their spellbook, PLEASE. Like Ryze and Karthus have spellbooks, but they're such minor aspects of their kits they might as well not even have them. Give me a bookworm character who uses their book of spells as a part of their character plz.

I feel like theyre just using enchantress referring to nami or to throw us off because after all that sexism at their office and their whole "we're going to do better speech" they surely wouldnt be dumb enough to make the first new enchanter in 3 4 years a woman considering the entire primary role is all female.

or it would be a woman because forcing it to be something else just for the sake of it being something else isn't going to end up well at all. It rarely ever does in any medium (shows, movies, games, etc etc). Making people be gay just for the sake of there being a gay person somewhere is dumb and looked pretty poorly among many people, same with black characters, female in leading roles and whatnot. Don't see how making a new enchanter be a woman be "dumb" if that is what they came up with then great! making a new enchanter be a male just because "we need to have males in this role!" is and will be the real dumb part and like I said it's very easy to just blow up right in their face... like it has happened to every company that wants to force these type of things with little to no thought

It's not like theyre adding a half african half asian handicappable genderqueer token character, they'd be adding a male enchanter because there are none in the primary roster. And yeah it'd be dumb to add another female because enchanters are very few and far between and there's currently no male representation in the primary role. The whole point of a new champion is to add something new to the game not just a rehash of what we already have whether that be thematically or otherwise.

sorry but no, adding a male character for the sake of there being a male character in a role is beyond stupid and dumb. You make a character first, how this character behaves, their likes how this character is supposed to react to things and whatnot and worry about their useless sex later and just fit a sex that actually makes sense. That is how a good character is made. Forced diversity is worst than no diversity. Sorry but no, it'll be just fine to have a new female enchanter and better than some forced male enchanter that only exists because "there is no male enchanter!"

why is adding a male character for the sake of there being a male character in a role beyond stupid and dumb? Practically everything added to the game is for the sake of it being added to the game. I'm not saying riot should be like ok lets make this great female enchanter but then be like oh we have to appease the pc culture and make it male bc there are none. I'm saying that I hope that riot can look past their bias about how a role such as enchanters could only be filled with women and actually design something representative of a type of hero (eg male enchanter) that they have yet to explore.

if they made a damn female champion then it will be a female champion. If they actually made a male enchanter because it was supposed to be one from the start then awesome! making a male enchanter for the sake of there being a male enchanter is dumb and stupid. Companies being "oh we need to have diversity!" is what literally make their stuff be looked poorly in the first place. Nobody likes forced diversity, hell forced anything. If it comes naturally then awesome! when you force it, all you accomplish is making people look at you with disgust. Forcing ANYTHING rarely ever works out in any positive way

I agree and at the same time would like to point out that 1 male after 6 females would hardly be considered forced as far as diversity goes.

The amount that came before means nothing. Could have been 5 or 900 it does not matter. Making a male character just because "we need one" is forcing it. This is how stupid things like Pyke came into existence

I disagree that the amount that came before means nothing considering the ratio should be around 50% and currently its not even 8% and thats partially including taric but w/e.

How does pyke's existence relate to this?

... Personally I don't think a person's sex is useless, and I don't see how a male enchanter wouldn't make sense. It's not even forced diversity, because no one's forcing anyone to do anything. Asking for something, or expressing a desire, isn't a demand.

Are Lucian and Ekko forced diversity for you, too?

a soon to be 7 female to 1 male ratio in a generic and really simple support role is still incredibly unbalanced, even more so since Taric has barely anything to do with the other enchanters beside heal/shield and is pretty much his whole unique class in the support role.

There are male enchanters, but they do tend to be enchanters as a secondary role, and are less dependent on buffing their partner's ability than on catching someone out. Taric and Zil are the closest to it for males I think. Ivern, too, but he isn't typically a support.

there is a single secondary male enchanter and it's taric. Zilean is not an enchanter hes a specialist and thats because his primary play pattern revolves around qwq which is much more about poking than anything else. Heck his cc is more commonly useful to allies than his only non-ult enchantment (e). The only reason hes a support rather than a standard mage is because his r happens to be one of the best enchantments in the game. Switch that single skill out for damage and hed be nunu pre rework lvl of enchanter.

The primary reason why it would be a good idea to show a male in the role is that it's a common misconception that only women can be nurturing and even with taric that is evident. He protects not because he wants to foster the success of his allies but because he seeks redemption and the return of his honorable status which is classically very important to the stereotypical male character while things such as altruistically helping others are seen as less important to their (stereotypical) competitive nature.

Also side note about ivern, i try him as support regularly bc i like supports and he seems so close to being able. The e and q are good but w is niche and daisy is really the nail in his enchanter coffin imo she has like no reliability. I really hope riot changes his w and r eventually so he can be a proper enchanter or even a catcher.

Oh, no don't get me wrong. I'd love a pure enchanter male support. I like enchanters in general (come at me "enchanter meta worst meta") but they're all kind of samey in terms of character (i.e. big breasted with breathy voice, Lulu notwithstanding). Having some more variety would freshen the role, for myself anyway.

Also I'm really bad at Taric so can't use him.

"New mechanics for you to get ATTACHED to"

I'm hoping for something resembling Mina from Dawngate (rest in peace, fuck EA)

Mina had an ability that let her jump into and ride an allied champion, generated a passive shield on them, and she could cast her abilities from there.

Rah The Charmer1 votes

I would love something like that. Or even something like that one champ from Paragon (I barely played it) where she would tether herself to an ally. I think that could have interesting play.

LTK KoRo1 votes

I hope she won't generate another shield for ADCs, they have enough of these

MorgManBasher2 votes

I definitely agree though, I like a mixture of defense and aggression and hope it's more like a Nami or Lulu and not a Janna. Janna can be a semi bully in the right lane with W max but I want something that can be very aggressive if I want to be or in a losing lane, passive.

Plus yeah, I want skill shot shields/heals please. As much as I do love playing Lulu, it would be cool to have skill shot based shielding.

Rah The Charmer2 votes

Just please don't give it some stupid bs to be a special snowflake. The whole Zoe stealing summoners, Pyke execution ult, Sylas stealing ults, Neeko camouflage, I'm really over all of this "cool innovative champs". I just want a classic enchanter to add to my list of mains with a fun and interesting spin on them.

Ephixus2 votes

nah an enchanter with dash, knock up, and stun, also overloaded ulti, that's our modern league of legends.
