Surrender Voting in Ranked

So as we know the community in League of Legends can at times (or all the time) be a toxic community (especially at low rankings). Now I just finished playing a game in ranked and my team just wasn't working together, naturally someone chose to surrender at 20. I said no to the vote but everyone else said yes. I lose 14 LP when I didn't even want to give up the game that was far from over. My suggestion to Riot is to change this so if you choose to not surrender I do not think you should be penalized as heavily. If that means still taking away some LP for ranking purposes okay but I am not okay with losing so much for a game I was not a part of surrendering. Please let me know what can/could be done for this problem. If nothing I mean... So be it. Thanks!

This is a helpful POV... I would reply to this with a general statement that reflects my opinion that if you are going to queue for a game then you should be ready for anything to get the win. Ik this is not your opinion or your strategy but I'm just trying to help you see my side of the argument.

let me ask you a question there fellow summoner...

its it more beneficial to fight and drag a game out for 45+ mins win or loss or to ff a game that you are losing and moving to new game so you can play 3 games and lose the one you FF and win the next two

which gains more LP ?

it wasnt a statement of what you do or think... it was a statement of how people use that a trump card if you try to make a point about the game saying if you arent high elo you dont know anything and shouldnt speak and are invalid... it wasnt an attack on you

i agree with this, i can not begin to tell you how much lp iv lost because of people FF at 20 when your down a hand full of kills and a tower, i just dont get it

Surrendering in ranked is mental. Even if you have a 1% chance to not lose LP and instead gain LP, why make it assured loss?

If people literally only care about the climb grind, sure. But I've never been one who likes grinding the same raid 5000 times for gearscore. Which is why I quit WoW. Self improvement, learning, win rates, etc. To me that is the fun of games. Playing a desperate situation can be perfectly fun, but not just fun, but also a learning experience. If you only ever allow yourself to experience ideal situations, and never learn to hit from the rough, you won't grow.

Waiting an extra 5 minutes for them to fail to close out a game is often enough to turn it into a win. I win games drastically behind all the time. Especially if their champions fall off or if they get cocky.

ok so what if they take away the FF in ranked and people wanted to ff and they cant cuz its gone what are they gonna do if they really dont want to continue playing that game?

c) majority vote for surrender then a surrender happens

Idc if they keep the surrender in there, I just don't want to be penalized when I disagree with the surrender vote. Its me being stolen LP imo.

people would abuse it.. 4 People vote yes, 1 person quickly votes no so that they don't lose as much lp

Maybe the requirement would then be that you are required to vote no before the 4/5 vote otherwise you lose the same amount. Idk. Simple solution that would require more working out.

Just saying... Weither you surrender or not does not determine the amount of LP you're getting:

It's how high your MMR is compared to the AVERAGE MMR of the TIER and DIVISION you're in.

well if you have an afk and lose the game you still lose LP the same

if they troll and you lose game you still lose lp the same

its kinda like a suggestion someone had that if you are on losing team in rank but based on the grade you got on your champ you lose less LP cuz its not your fault ...

its a team game... you win with and lose with ... the team

and for all the changes for lost or gain of LP for ranked losses and wins its gonna all be the same it is now... cuz its not just one person or one group of people it effects... all players are subjected to the trolls, afks, and surrenders so as long as you win more then you lose... and win on a consistent basis you will climb elo til you dont.. and if you arent climbing then maybe you are where you are suppose to be

Although I am one of those players who almost never surrenders, I feel like this would only basically remove surrender votes. Who in their right mind would surrender knowing that you'll lose more LP than just flat out losing. If this were implemented, I feel like players would instead just AFK when they felt like the game was over, instead of surrendering, because they'll lose less LP. I feel like a better solution would be to require a unanimous vote to surrender for ranked only.

I enjoy your thinking.. at the same time it does create other problems, but if it would still keep me from losing as much LP then I would be fine with that other person AFKing in the situation. Or if there were a better way to make the AFK person lose more but Ik there isn't much of a reliable way to make that happen.

I wholeheartedly disagree and firmly believe that the vote should win at a majority 3 since a duo Q is common enough to ruin people's day constantly. That 14LP you lost would be a drop in the bucket if obviously lost games were cut in half making it possible to play more games per day and it would also be less tilting. I'd rather spend 20 min in a one sided game and move on to a game actually worth playing rather than continually get dove and stomped to stroke the enemy ego who think that fed=good player.

In a definitely one sided game I agree, but in a game where they are marginally ahead or (from a very analytical perspective) slightly behind even I wouldn't want to be required to lose more LP for the very winnable game.

glad that no is losing, bad idea people will abuse this so much. also, you are stupid if you don't ff if you are down 20-3. game is over, don't waste your time, that is what the afk option is for.

I feel like 20 minute is too early to surrender for most games in rank, I think riot should increase the surrendering time to around 30 minutes in rank because that is where you can really see how the game is going to go. Well in normal 20 minutes is good for surrendering, that is just what I think.

well if you wait til 30 then might as well not FF cuz a few more mins every one is full build and lvl 18 so the kill and gold advantage the other team had is pretty much worth less and for most elos it becomes a game of ARAM at that point
