The forced icon equipping for missions

I seriously dont get it.

We have vanity icons for a reason, some demands you purchasing them for real money, some earned - we use them for a reason. Vanity. We like them.

Personally, I like to show off my last season ranked reward atm. That'll probably change to show the cute Morgana-chibi icon in a while. Or the Rose. Sometimes I enjoy using my DJ Sona icons. It's all about my mood, what kind of icon I wanna use right now.

To be forced to use a specific icon, which most of the time also is ugly (Yes, the project icon for missions now is ugly, as have most of the others been as well, including the yasuo/riven ones, and those I liked the best of all these mission icons), is not only causing me to dislike missions, but also pisses me off a bit.

It's a vanity thing. I wanna show off something I like to have as an icon, be it some cool icon I paid for, or be it something I feel like I got as an "achievement".

Do. Not. Force. Me. To. Use. Your. Ugly. Icons. To. Do. Missions. (or any for that matter - this is the important part)

I dont like it. I dont like the mechanics of missions if those forced icons are there. I literally dont care if you have a special reason for forcing us to use icons, such as being able to separate numbers to be all "oh, during mission time, we collected 5 million gold! (really we did 15 million, but only a third used our forced icon)".

I dont care. Dont force me to use icons to participate in missions.

Now, we're in a generation where people takes icon holding seriously...

Like wow, I bet you holding the Bronze 3 icon grants you 100 AD or 3000 HP at the start of the game. Or maybe if I click your champion in-game, I'll get to see the Tibber icon instead of the champion's face.

oh noes! they are forcing you to use an icon something that nobody nor you actually gets to see for the vast majority of your time in the game and that you more than likely forget it even exist.

Holy shit all these people bashing on OP. I agree with him, screw the forced icons. And for the guy who suggested the opt-in / opt-out points, just make a fucking checkbox next to the mission, BAM, problem fucking solved.

He brings a good point why isn't the mission opting in just a checkbox on the mission panel? Are the graphic artists going to be so butthurt if no one uses their icons?

You people are actually defending event icons just because "well that's how it is, deal with it" The old client was complete garbage but I guess we should have kept and defended it, because that is just how it was.

For what it's worth Riot have said this should be the last event that needs the icon to be equipped.

It's a complete nonsense system that seems to have grown from their old tech.
