We need better build paths for expensive items

Why cant and build into and? It is annoying to back with 1k gold in mid game but have no item to buy because you want and item that includes bf sword or a needlessly large rod. Youmouus for example builds from all long swords into intermediate items and then the final item same thing for a few ap items building from multiple amp tones. It is just flat damage building into more damage. All tank and bruiser items that i can think of have easy build paths where even if you back with 300-400 you can almost always buy a component for a larger item.
