Penalties for Dodging.(Suggestion)

Hi, I literally just dodged a rank game and suffered an LP loss and a time ban on queing for more matches. Generally i like that people who ruin a game for others get punished. I believe, however, that their should be an easy method for disputing the penalties. The game i just dodged was in champ select at the time, everyone had finished their picks. One of the players was refusing to communicate with the team at all and another was only communicating to be toxic and offensive. They disrespected the roles called by other characters(even those with pick before them) and refused to even discuss with the rest of us. I dodged the match so that the three of us who actually care about the game weren't forced into losing a game, even if we had won however it would not have been enjoyable because of the attitudes of the toxic players.

Two things

It doesn't matter if you have Fun in Ranked, that's not the core principle.
Ya, having to dodge sucks. Petition for Riot to give everyone a non-Elo (but still Timed) loss leave once a day, Problem solved,

So I was in champion select and asked for top as I normally do. My team was kind enough to give me the role so I figured I must have pressed the wrong button to queue, but I rolled with it. I locked in my favorite top lane champion and noticed the other team had not yet picked theirs. Eagerly I awaited until last pick, but the guy picked Nasus . Now call me crazy but I thought there were supposed to be penalties for dogeing in champion select?

What makes it worse is the guy doged all game too. In top lane he just sat there like Old Mcdonald and farmed his stacks. It was truly horrifying when he teleported back into lane only to doge some more. All I could do was watch helplessly while this doge did his thing for the entire game. I can't even remember if I won or lost because the memory is so traumatizing, to be doged on for an entire game as well as during champion select.

People always say there should be penalties for dogeing, so do you agree?

I don't even understand why there's a penalty for dodging at champ select. It's the best time to leave when you have ratchet ass team mates that you know are going to ruin the game. I can understand there being a timer for re-joining I suppose, to keep people from doing it over and over just because they think it's funny.... but why an LP loss? What kind of abuse could come from people dodging at champ select?

Because you can inflate your Elo by picking and choosing which games you play, thereby you can reach higher ranks. It also would make Ques extremely long.

Sure but as long as there was still a timer that got longer and longer each time you dodged... it wouldn't be that big of a problem. People who need to dodge are people you don't want on your team anyway. I'd rather have to queue several times in a row and then lose with a good team than queue once and lose because some guy didn't want to play solo top and threw the lane.

Sadly thats not how things work.

Elo Loss is needed and I would present that without it players would only play ranked when they deemed it favorable to them. 1 game free leave with an hour ban, any after that is increasing Elo loss.

I dont care if you want top or not, I do care if you have an attitude or the team picks extremely badly.

You don't seem to understand how it works. The people that want to leave should be able to leave at the detriment to their own elo. Those who want to play shouldn't have to suffer through an hour long loss because of one person. That's how good players get stuck in bronze 1. You are probably one of them and that's why you're against a reasonable solution. You don't want the good players to leave you in bronze because then there won't be any one to carry you out of it.

You may want to watch what you say, I was constantly poking Gold and got stuck with 8 extremely bad games this year for promos, which is why I'm Bronze.

That good player youre talking about is me, dunce. Except unlike you, I understand that just because it's a good idea on paper doesn't mean its a good idea in practice.

One non-eloloss leave a day, thats it. You don't get to pick amd choose every game you want to play, to weed out and prune the que to find favorable circumstances that you like. There are plenty of people who would take a 5 hour ban, and get a win a day. Don't make stupid ass assertions because you want to think you're right and then strawman me to make me look wrong.

I'd love to and already would have done so I knew how to access thebold boards, which to my knowledge, are no longer existent.

I've been an active member of these boards since 2010, I've read just about every major thread that Reds have been part of. The major concern with giving more freedom with Leaves in Ranked is the ability to pick your battles, which unnaturally inflates your ratings, as well as the Queue issues that arrise from both the constant leaving and the pool of players being reduced due to it.

At lower ranks such as Bronze and Silver, it may not be much of an issue and more of an annoyance. At higher Ranks however, like Gold and Plat, where the pool us smaller and competitive nature of ranked is higher you may see a large increase in leaves and longer Ques due to the lack of punishment for leaving, and these peoples want for wins.

Then you have the indirect effects of this. People will start to scrutinize team comps based on their own preferences, pressure others to leave so they don't have to, ect, ect. For these reasons Riot has kept the current system in place.

Now, I'd be more than willing to admit that Bronze and Silver should be given SOME special treatment, because the attitudes, low level of play as well as the absence of teamwork all combine into an incredibly frustrating experience for anyone who isn't apt at playing a Hyper Carry or what is the FoM. What that solution is though, thats up to debate.
