The Pricing is Bogus

What is with this champion pricing? Think of Zac . Barely played, win rate is low, never banned. He's in a group of the most expensive champ in the game (except for new champions). Anyone think he should be lowered to 4800 or even 3150? Now lets look at Warwick. Since the new jungle is the way it is, Warwick is becoming banned a lot. His win rate is sky high, even being the highest in NA. An amazing jungler, this beast that can't be stopped, is in the lowest pricing of champs, being 450 IP. I've gotten 386 IP from one game, so he's definitely not a hard champ to get. everyone has him except for very new players. I know it's all in the difficulty factor, but if so, why on earth is Darius 6300? And these champs who could win a game by default, champs that are so good they carry a lot of the time, so low in prices? Take a look at Tristana, Tryndamere, Jax, Morgana. Champs that have God like properties on the fields of justice. Or look at Vel'Koz, Zac, Sejuani, Azir. How many times have you seen those champs compared to the likes of Warwick, Master Yi, Udyr, Teemo, and all these champs who people can't seem to get enough of, are so low and dirt cheap in price? I don't know and maybe some of you will understand why I'm getting a little upset Thank you. (Extra note, I know it's based on how new the champ is or how "powerful" he is, the point is some champs are to cheap or expensive when it comes to their potential. )

All of the strong champions being 6300 IP sounds like the exact opposite of what the community would want.

It is a very good thing that cheap champions are viable. Means you can develop a stable of champions without buying stuff or playing the game for a year.

By the way, the original idea was that difficult champs would be expensive, but they changed that policy years ago. Now it's new champs are expensive, and every few releases they reduce the price of an older champion.

Riot has a certain rule since the begining : price != power. Simple as that.

Price was meant to be for complexity (so that as you play more, you can get harder champs), and possibly "shiny" (new techs, new champs). As above mentions, they changed it to be new=expensive. then as they loose their newness, cheaper.

It's not "all in the difficulty factor"; it's almost purely a matter of how old the champion is. Years ago, Riot used to price new champions based on their complexity, but eventually decided to make all new champions 6300 (and later, 7800 during the week of their release).

Making more difficult or more powerful champions cost more IP would be a bad road to go down. It's also worth noting that champions' win rate (and the community's perception of their relative strength, which frequently has nothing to do with win rates) varies quite a lot from patch to patch. Six months ago, Elise was one of the top junglers and a frequent ban. Lately her win rate and pick rate have been much lower and she's never banned. I don't think you really want to see champion prices rising and falling with their popularity.

  1. Posting in Gameplay & Balance about this?
  2. Champion prices are not related to their gameplay performances at all.

Pricing is based on how new a champion is, deal with it.
