Just cant finish off my enemy

Ok so I'm summoner lvl 15 and I have played around with a few different summoners and found ones I like. Namely Shyvana. But my problem is I just cant seem to finish enemies off and seal the kill. They either overwhelm me or flee to the point I cant keep pursuit. So I was wondering if any one had some pro tips for being more aggressive and getting them kills.

This isn't a solo game. Work with your teammates to secure kills.

Shyvana can't lock anyone. You need another champion with disables - stuns/slow to do it for her.
