PBE Viktor - Keep the diversity

I know PBE is an environment where close to everything is supposed to change and I have recently caught up with the apparently long awaited Viktor rework. Now, I've been a fan of Vik ever since he came out, even if I DO agree that he has trouble fitting in. One thing I do like about him, tho, is that he is the closest thing we have to a second Kayle in the sense that it's a champ that you're never initially sure of where it's going to go or how it's going to be built. Sure, not all options are equally viable and my favourite Viktor build is certainly very strange as it revolves around maxing Power Return first (something I think should be always done, btw), never actually getting Death Ray (something that is sure to get people screaming in confusion), buying Power augment and running Viktor as a Triforce marksman in the bot lane.

That has its problems, for sure. A lot of your damage is still going to be magical so itemization is a bit difficult and even if power return offers good trading you still have short range (and I still get confused with Viktor's auto-attack wind-up at times), etc... but if I ever believed I could get away with it that would be very likely my main pick in the bot lane, just because it's so damn fun! I've also ran Gravity augment Support Vik with reasonable success under questionable circumstances and everyone loves the Death augment AP mid Viktor....

This flexibility is something that, imo, makes Viktor very unique. I do think he needs tweaking and like SOME of the ideas going into his rework, but I feel he's going a bit in the direction of Syndra, atm, where he's a champion with staggered power-ups but ultimately is always the same end-game champion, with just some possible variations in how he gets there.

While you're still flushing it out on the PBE, I'd like if you kept this in mind. item 3078 Viktor #BELIEVE.

(BTW: My username is screwed and I haven't managed to find out how can I fix it in the entirety of the 40 seconds I looked for it, so yeah, this is @VileLasagna formerly from EUW, now in the #HUE server )

I thought you chose your powerup because it gives you a point into anything?

So far it works like this:

In PBE, Hex Core can be upgraded 3 times, for 1K each. Each time you get an "evolution point", kinda like Kha'Zix and you can upgrade one of your skills. When you get the third one you also upgrade Chaos Storm. This is why I feel the similarity to Syndra because you will take some time, but eventually you reach the "full power" state where all of your skills end up upgraded (Hex core becomes a pretty respectable item too).

Currently, in live, you pick one augment and "set your path" with that one as your "signature skill", so to speak. With a single augment, each build becomes very different because you're trading off, say, increased mobility and extra health in Power augment for greater burst and poke with Death augment, or greater utility with Gravity. Hex core also has different stats for each upgrade. Power gives health and regen, death gives more AP and gravity gives mana and CDR.

I feel Viktor is a lot about choice and this is what I feel is being lost. The once "swiss army knife" Viktor gets much more standardized. I feel it will head in the direction of "one 'optimal' build and one 'right way to play' " whereas right now, (again), even if he has trouble fitting in and does need tweaking, he has different directions and paths from which the player must choose
