No its not really based off of wins and losses, its based off of the mmr you play the games at. Last season I lost 7 provisionals and still got placed in Silver V because the mmr I was playing at was Silver III

5 is bigger than 1, but 5th place is worse than 1st place, so it's that sense of number usage where smaller is better.

Bronze 5 is the worst, then you climb up to bronze 4 if you win enough, and if you win enough there up to bronze 3, etc up to bronze 1, where if you win enough you get promoted to silver 5, and so on all the way up to master.

But, in all seriousness, bronze 5 is lower than bronze 1. As you rank up, you will reach bronze 4, then 3... all the way to 1. Then you will be promoted to silver, following the same number process. Here are the ranks:

http://prntscr.com/edgu3r

As you win, you gain something called LP, or League Points. You generally start at 0 and build your LP up with wins until you reach 100 points. Wins give you LP, and losses take LP away. Once you reach 100 LP, you'll enter a promotional series which will require you to win a set of games, 2 out of 3. If you win these matches, you will enter the next rank, in your case, bronze 4. If you fail, you will have to attempt 100lp again and restart at a certain lp based on your performance. However, re-entering a series a second time will grant you one free win toward your rank up during your promos.

When you hit bronze 1, or any normal rank with "1" in it, and attain 100lp, your promos will be best 3 out of 5, instead of 2 out of 3. The one free win still applies.

The only exception to this is Master and Challenger rank, which aren't composed of 5 divisions, rather are standalone ranks.

There are some other left out details, but in a nutshell, that's how it works. Good luck, have fun. And may your dreams not be memes.

(Free wins only apply up to gold, climbing to plat/diamond/master theres no free wins for repeated series.)

Here's a whole lot of info all in one thread pertaining to how the ranked systems function:

Bronze V is the lowest. You gain or lose 'LP' on a loss or win. What determines how much 'LP' you gain/lose is called 'MMR'. 'MMR' is hidden, you can increase it by winning alot, decrease it by losing alot.

At Bronze V 100 LP, you will have your promo matches to get to Bronze IV 0 LP. You have to win 2/3 of these matches to get promoted. If you fail promos and get back into it, you'll get a free win.

And so on from Bronze IV Bronze III Bronze II Bronze I

To get from Bronze I to Silver V, you need to win 3/5 matches.

There are things like skipping divisions if your MMR is high enough, or skipping promotions.

Just some advice, I'm Platinum V atm, I started I bronze V a little over a year ago. Just focus on improving yourself, and try to get a small champ pool. Pick 2 roles, always queue as those 2 roles, and play at-most 3 champs for each of those roles.

If you want to climb, you gotta be a little laid back. If you put your heart and soul into every ranked match, you're going to go crazy lmao.
