Top lane feels like a joke

I'm getting really tired of playing top into these super safe laners like Vlad and now recently Trist. Why is it every season some ADC is able to top lane and completely dominate it and make the laning phase SO boring? I know it isn't entirely intentional, but the only way to play top now is with counter picking. And if you don't pick before the enemy top laner they have the advantage. Sometimes I win against them and sometimes I lose but it is not fun playing melee vs ranged even when I am winning, and when I am losing it feels even worse. Maybe I am wrong about this, what do you guys think?

Ranged tops are those nessecary evils that you just got to deal with, either you play a melee that can deal with them or have to change the way you play to deal with most of them.

As much as I personally hate the melee into ranged match up when I’m playing someone immobile like Illaoi, without ranged tops we will go back to the days of the melee lane bullies like Darius, Renekton, and Riven pushing all other melees out.

Top lane has always been about counter picking since Season 1, there was just a temporary lapse where champions top lane got so overloaded you didn't have to counterpick anything, you could just lock it and win

Counterpicking is core to what top lane is because it's the 1 v 1 lane and it aint an issue
