Aatrox and ways we could rework him moving forward

Look, every character I touch dies in a patch. Sometimes is sooner, rather then later. (sorry for bad spelling I am tired and auto correct is jank lol)

As a person just getting into Aatrox for about 4 days, losing the revive on his ult was kinda rough at first. Sure I've gotten more use to it now even after a day but I feel like hes kinda weird now? He feels like a mix of rhaast and riven, with nothing to really make him stand out. I know a lot of people have had this problem, so I was trying to think of ways to fix it. I have a bit of a list, so I'll start with the least likely and move to the most likely.

  1. Give him his revive back. Just revert him a patch if the community really isn't enjoying the missing mechanic. I understand that at high tier play he is crazy, however making the game fun for low tier play, especially blind and normal draft is important. If everything was balanced based off of one tier of play, league would be a very different game, however I understand the argument could also be turned around, which is why I put this as the least likely outcome.

  2. Change his passive to an Item . Think something like Viktor . Since characters being similar seems to be no issue for riot, this might be a good way to balance the champion. A rough idea could be his sword is an non sellable item, which can be upgraded (like this one item 3200 ). This Item wouldn't be particularly strong however. This could work because he would lose an item slot, but could have his health regen and revive based on a build able item, meaning it also takes gold for him to get that strong. If it was the same as Vel, then make the item end at about 2500-3000 gold.

  3. Turn him into a mid-laner . This one might actually work very well. Changing his stats overtime over a few patches, and make players want to go electrocute. Make him a bursty assassin. This kind of work since the other Darkin are attached to characters who are AD assassin or bust characters. Maybe turning the Darkin into a assassin type across the board could just work. Aatrox could find new life in a different role. The big problem I see with this is that it would be more interesting if one day we could have a Darkin team with actual synergy

  4. Keep him how he is, and move on. I have already taken this as the most likely outcome. Maybe I could just be holding onto an old version of the character. I just hope that the mechanic can be replicated in a future soon to be released character though, because removing a playstyle is kind of lame. Tower diving is a high risk high reward mechanic, but it was cool to have a character who was just a little bit easier for new players to use. Either way I'm still going to play the character, so I hope that if this is the way it goes, that the community can learn to move onwards.

  5. Riot does spaghetti code and something goes terribly wrong. Because you know, league.
