Rakan's Ult

In the stream earlier, if I remember correctly, the casters were asked if Rakan's ult can travel through minions. The caster answered yes and said it turns him into a "ghost" and said something about being able to travel through walls/terrain. It's not really stated in the ability and I want to know if this is true or I just misheard/they were joking.
