"Easy" is an abstract concept.

A player that is Plat or higher saying that getting out of Bronze/Silver is extremely easy and not giving any ACTUAL tips for getting out is sooo dumb.

These players will just be like "don't worry they're trash you're better than them just farm and win." But I'm trash, and I can't farm and win. If it was that easy then EVERYONE would be in high elo.

And don't even get me started on plats who smurf in bronze and get like 100% win rates, that pisses me off. You simply have more skill than people in low elo. Just because you're a human doesn't mean you can get out of Bronze/Silver.

If you're going to give someone tips about getting out of low elo, GIVE THEM TIPS. Don't just say "I'm Diamond so I get a 100% win rate in that elo, so you can too!" BECAUSE WE CAN'T.

Getting to challenger is even easier. Just win more than you lose. Easy peasy.

IDK about challenger, but I have less than a 50% winrate and have been climbing The ranked/MMR/matchmaking system is weird.

Pretty much this. I mean this is incredibly short form and provides no information to help others improve, but it's also not that wrong. I know quite a few people that made it to plat just this season only because they played a bit more.

Honestly I think I could make it to plat 4 if I played enough ranked games but it's not worth the stress for me.

You can climb the ranks to gold really easy just from mechanics alone, and then a bit of game knowledge can get you to plat. Most of what keeps people back is when they don't realize they have shit game knowledge or mechanics, and sometimes it's when their team had them. Increasingly more so in recent seasons than in past.

League has been out for years, there are numerous youtube guides going into 40min -1 hour detail on how to climb out of bronze/Silver.

Many of them dissolve into something along the lines of 'abuse the meta' sooner or later and this leads to a lot of 'one hit wonders'. They either

  • Feed with the strat because they have no talent for it
  • Do good a few games then lose and drop again because they didn't actually learn anything.

I am pretty low too (g5 solo and flex, p5 3v3) but I think what helped me was consistently warding harald/baron/dragon. Even if your team is not in a position to contest it, knowing the enemy team is busy will let you take an objective on the other side of the map more quickly and confidently. [vlad-salute]

Edit: also if you are a jungle ping before coming in to gank because teammates never seem to notice you otherwise for some reason.

Getting out of Bronze is about 30x easier than getting out of Silver.

Just farm and force objectives. That's really easy since no one challenges you.

In silver you get 4 manned while your team fails to push mid 4v1

I legit had this happen to me today. I was playing Talon so I had the whole enemy team chasing me top [All 5] for upwards of 1 minute, and my team did nothing but question mark ping me instead of dragging or something. : ^)

When your team gets an ace and don't understand its the perfect time to push/baron or drag, maybe both, instead the whole teams goes and does random things and I'm solo pushing. Its okay if I'm playing an adc or fiora but it's dumb when your champ doesn't have comparable tower taking abilities.

This is my mathematical proof on how to win every game. First of all, we are all mortal, so we can assume games will not last forever. Secondly, we can say victory is: enemy nexuses remaining=0 So, as long as you don't let your nexus die, you win. The game cannot last forever, so at some point, as long as you don't lose, you win. Edit: 8 losses

P.S. My rank is over 9000. JK its 0. I'm unranked. 9-10 games played. 8 wins [sg-janna]

DuskDaUmbreon1 votes

Solid logic. Just don't lose, and you'll win.

I love it. Why hasn't Riot hired you yet? XD

Barcid1 votes

The best way to not lose... is to not play the game ever.

It's flawless logic. So if we don't lose then we win, and if we don't play then we win forever!

Your CS per minute is really bad. You legit got 55 CS in a 28 minute game with Camille. I'm actually suprised you are in Silver 4. Get your ass in the training tool and practice those last hits in a low stress environment. You will not climb any higher with CS like that. You need better mechanics.

Mechanics=Last Hits Last Hits=Gold Gold=Items Items=Power Power=Objectives Objectives=Win

Mechanics (Micro/Macro) = Win

Also point out to not stop farming, people in bronze/silver and everyday people like me could farm decently well in the laning phase and it just becomes a huge decrease in csing after that. Unless it's the guys who walk around all lanes taking minion waves. Like how challenger/ pro players get items at much earlier times than most of us because they still farm even when they're not laning. It's like you start roaming a lot/making picks the whole game that you forget that farm is even a thing, lots of 30-40 minute games I had where if I didn't stop csing after laning or when I roam, I probably would've reached full build, like in my last game. I think that's good advice but I don't follow my own advice anyway.

Thank you. This is actually something that I've been noticing. I've been placing such an emphasis on roaming/helping my team that I almost never focus on farming and I end up with really low CS numbers. I'll try to work on this :)

FooDang1 votes

Just to give you perspective, 17 (non-cannon) minions are roughly equal to 1 kill.

Champion Skin2 votes

Sometimes I see people being mid and then seeing their ally getting ganged up on top and then they start running top to help....

However most of the time it would probably be better to just push mid and use that ally as a distraction (since you likely won't get there in time even if you try to help) and pushing in the wave to the tower will make more minions die to the tower denying exp and gold and giving your team more gold if you are able to kill the tower

Remlap12232 votes

You honestly have to conform to the meta of each ELO. In bronze you gotta focus on kills and abuse the lack of general knowledge, in Silver, you gotta cheese and snowball like crazy, etc etc. If you're not on a platinum level and you play the platinum meta in bronze or silver, you're going to lose.

The funny thing about skill is that as a person improves, the skill becomes increasingly subconscious.

Thought experiment: Imagine driving down a highway. You need to shift lanes from right to left. How did you move the steering wheel?

Solution: Qvq lbh vzntvar "ebgngr gur fgrrevat jurry nobhg guvegl qrterrf pbhagre-pybpxjvfr, gura ebgngr vg guvegl qrterrf pybpxjvfr gb erghea vg gb gur arhgeny cbfvgvba"? Guvf vf jung zbfg crbcyr vzntvar, ohg vg'f vapbeerpg fvapr vg jvyy cvybg lbhe pne vagb gur thneq envy.

When I was first learning to drive, I felt overloaded with information. Eventually, I developed a mental hierarchy of priorities. I had to think about this checklist constantly until it became habitual.

_ 1) Avoid moving objects. (E.g. cars, pedestrians.) 2) Avoid stationary objects. (E.g. trees, buildings.) 3) Stay in your lane. 4) Read road-signs and traffic-lights. 5) Check speedometer. _

When I drive nowadays, it's second-nature. But this phenomenon isn't limited to driving. Hardcore gamers complain about Dark Souls, but I know normies who struggle with games like Kirby's Dreamland. Normies haven't built the same repository of intuitions as gamers have.

I've been playing videogames for a long time. But I generally don't play RTS's. So when I first joined League, I was a fish out of water. But most challengers entered the scene from games like like WoW or Dota, so Moba's were already second nature to them. So when top streamers respond " idk... just farm and carry", I suspect that it genuinely represents the sum of tips that are consciously available to them.

LankPants1 votes

My best advise would be to watch your own game and critique your plays honestly. If you do something that's absolutely retarded then just ask yourself why you did it and what you could have done better. Actively question what you're doing in game and what value you think it has. If you can't justify why you're making a play to yourself then just don't make it because it's most likely a horrible play.

Honestly, the best advice I’ve gotten from some of my high Elo friends is to not be stupid. It’s very generalized but it holds true in any situation and compared to a few years ago, I can see what stupid crap I’ve been doing that I don’t do anymore. I can see the several mistakes that my team is constantly outputting and I’m able to slowly recognize more and more things I’m doing wrong. With the advice of not playing stupidly, I managed to climb from bronze - gold 3 in ~2 weeks. I would’ve climbed higher if I kept playing and did not have school

I used to boost before Rito banned me for it. I took a handful of accounts from bronze to gold. The best advice I can give is play a snowbally mid and win all three lanes. Kat, zed, talon, yas, ahri. Kill your laner. Roam. Rinse and repeat. Hell, you can probably do it with Annie. She's substantially easier to play than the aforementioned, and has point and click cc. I suggest you don't play bot - your ally laner will probably be bad. It's hard to have much map impact as a top laner. Jungle can carry from bronze to gold as well, but it's easier to get rolling as a mid laner. "Play smart. Ward. Stay calm." That's all sound advice, but doesn't do anything about poor teammates. Pick mid. Win 3 lanes.

Bârd1 votes

I am Diamond. I can't play Annie.

I understand how subjective difficulty can be.

Something more related to the actual post, I have two procedures that are useful.

  1. Identify your teams win condition (Ideally, still in the draft).
  2. Do everything in your power to bring that win condition to fruition.

Say you're picking your midlaner and you have a J4 jungle, Rakan support, and MF ADC. It's pretty clear that your win condition is MF winning lane followed by a mid game teamfight with Baron taken shortly after and a hard push to victory.

Your mid pick needs the following properties in this case.

  • Can roam bot easily.
  • Can push in a lane to prevent the enemy laner from going bot.
  • Somewhat of a threat in teamfights.
  • Magic damage dealer, since your lineup is AD heavy so far.

The best champions that fit this scenario are Ahri AurelionSol Corki Ekko Karma Galio Karthus Lux Orianna Ryze Taliyah TwistedFate Ziggs Leblanc Xerath

Champions that are decent, but not ideal are Annie Fiddlesticks Kassadin Katarina Kennen Lissandra Malzahar Syndra Talon Varus Viktor Vladimir Zed

Then, you need to get the enemy into a situation where they think they can do Baron. If they do, J4+Bullet time for the ace, take baron, hard push for the end. If they won't, start it yourself. If they try to stop you, wombo them. If they don't take baron and push until they try to fight you.

The other procedure is this.

  1. Assume the enemy has a trick up their sleeve.
  2. Figure out what it is. If there is one, find a way around it and move to step 3. If there isn't move directly to step 3.
  3. Capitalize.
NekoniClaws1 votes

They can't give you tips- because league is a game of 100,000 nuances and very few overarching trends. Things like csing and warding need to become second nature - perfected, to reach HIGH elo - so you can free your mind up to do other things... I think that's why they say it. Because you really need to do so many other things just to reach gold. The problem is most of these things are champion and matchup specific so you can't just ask any old plat+ to explain - but you'll have to watch streams of someone who plays your mains and to learn first hand through practice. Once you have the knowledge and the instincts, I'm sure it's easy as apple pie.

Farming is a pretty dumb way to get out of silver. Roaming is way more effective at this teir where people don't even look at mini map.

These players will just be like "don't worry they're trash you're better than them just farm and win." But I'm trash, and I can't farm and win. If it was that easy then EVERYONE would be in high elo.

I can't agree. I see my bronze friend play on a regular basis. Their problem is they want to be silver/gold, but they dont want to improve. I can tell them right at the begining of the game to not take any risk, just focus on farming, and i'll find them dead under the ennemy tower less than 5 minut later.

They want to play and just do what pops in their mind. Getting better require training. And training is just setting up goals, actions, and staying focused on that.

Yes anyone can be at least gold. It just requires preparation and the will to do it. It requires to actually train and not be like "HUM WHICH CHAMPION WILL I TAKE THIS GAME ? ... I'VE NOT PLAYED AZIR IN A LONG TIME, GO FOR HIM" It requires to play the same champion at least multiple time in a row, so the mecanics inherent to the champion become natural and you can focus on a more abstract level of play.

Even as a diamond veigar/ww I can't just start playing a new champion and be like "i'm going to carry games", If I have to focus on what my competences are doing, which damages my autos will be doing, or If I dont know which trades I can or can't take, I wont be able to focus on the other parts of the play, like decision making, roaming etc.

EDIT : another concrete example, I've been playing with a bronze friend a lot. I was playing on lower lvel accounts to help him get to silver because he couldnt get out of bronze. He was playing Aatroxx. He was farming quite well, had good mecanics, he was crushing his lane nearlly every time.

Problem : he had no decision making at all. Like none. He was playing every teamfight like the whole team was going to follow him instantly, even if he was in the middle of the map and our team was spread accross the map. He was then blaming people for not grouping. I tried to help him for 20 games. And he didnt change at all. He was repeating the same exact mistake every time. He was absolutely triggered by the presence of an ennemy in his vision field. He had to go for that kill. Even if noone was backing him up and that every single other ennemies was missing.

Sometimes people dont want to put any reflexion because "it's a game", and they are not here to "use their brain". Well, expect to lose against people who use theirs then.

saying anything is easy to someone who says its hard is just silly. easy is an opinion based word. its easy for us to lift a small brick but for an ant its hella hard. for me making smart trades is easy but having map awareness is hard. not just that, but there are also specific individual circumstances that can impact it that are beyond your control or are very very difficult to change such as bad internet connection, bad computer equipment, or difficulty focusing on multiple things. i very gladly welcome advice, but usually that "advice" turns out to be "git gud you should be able to solo carry as sejuani"
