New champ select

Well i was playing a game with a friend, and he picked me my champ for me but didn't lock in he did this one game then got a automatic 5 min. so then a few games after we did the same thing and he picked me a champ then he gets kicked and gets a 35 min cool down, which i think is bullshit because you shouldn't have to lock in if the champ is picked already it should just auto lock in.......... can you please change this?
