Ryze is trash right now. If I fight him I laugh and cry then proceed to thank riot for the free lp I get from him. I tried to play him in 8.7 and I understood why he has like a 44% winrate. Better nerf ryze should be more of a meme than irelia. Ryze is honestly so unplayable it's not even funny. Even if you get your entire q-e-q-w-q-e-q combo you still only do about 1/2 of a person health in damage it's sad. The ult is trash and doesn't do anything, the removal of zhonyas has removed any usefulness to his ult and now the guy has absolutely nothing to work with he's garbage atm. 45% winrate is horrible. Stop nerfing him and buff him. I don't want to have a free win just because I see a ryze.

In competitive and higher elos, he is really good.

My advice is to either start W, manage your mana better, or to back early and often. If you play aggressively enough, you can force your opposing laner to also back, through the use of W and autos.

Comet is guaranteed to land if you W. Add scorch in there for some extra damage. That'd be 80 + 30 + 20 base damage right there at level 1 from a single W. An auto stuck in there is an additional 55 damage, bringing the total to about 185 mixed damage before resistances. After resistances it hits for around 140 from base damages alone.

Pretty good isn't it? Clearing waves is gonna be a bitch though with that E mana cost. Just got to ration it, focus instead on using autos or Q to farm rather than E. Work around the nerfs and it's a-ok.
