Riot's hidden resettable MMR?

I've been wanting to do this once I heard my friend got banned for false accusations. He was banned for MMR boosting which I know for a dang fact he would never do this. EVER! I have known the guy for 10+ years and not a single game has he cheated in. We both were on a climb to strive to get better at the game and I noticed a change in gameplay for both of us. He finally got to Gold 5 and after that he wanted to try for Plat. He was on the up and down from Gold 1- Gold 2. I stopped playing and chatted with him on Skype and he tells me "I have been banned", what for? "MMR boosting". So as the title says hidden MMR that may be resettable? The only thing he did was reset his PC (like he does each month) and said once he played a few games of League the players had been the easiest kills/wins of his life. Going +20 kd etc. A players dream to straight merk. So can someone clarify or explain this? I only assume Riot is holding you back on purpose? This is the only conclusion that I can come to. Like I said my friend has never cheated in a game and this was after the ranked borders were awarded, so it would've been pointless cheating for Plat.

MMR can't be reset. Odds are, your friend is lieing to you, or, there was an oddity in his account records. Bans aren't always for something that was immediatly done, but could have been done last fall. It takes time for Riot to investigate things, especially permanent bans. Riot has not, and never will, ban you for duoing with someone way better than you are. But letting someone play your account? That can be, and usually is, considered MMR boosting. Especially if they play ranked.

Im only silver so thats not possible. But like I said I know for a damn fact this guy has never cheated in this game. Every game he gets he hates because the pvp is not as fun as League of Legends. There has to be something that Riot has hidden in the client or on your PC.

Yes, and like everyone who has ever been banned for being boosted(the entirely accurate 100% they did in fact get boosted) bans, they claim to be innocent. I'm not saying I can prove your friend did it, but if anyone played his account in ranked for one game--even if it wasn't for the implicit intent of boosting--that can and will get you banned. Usually under the premise of MMR boosting.

If your friend is truely innocent, he should be contacting player support in a respectful and polite manner to attempt to get the matter resolved. Riot does not hide anything on your computer, if it was because of some sort of program hidden on your machine, the ban would've been for scripting, not elo/MMR boosting.

Known the guy for 10 years and I know for a fact he would never cheat. This is a guy I could trust giving a Winning 1 million dollar Lotto ticket and turn it in for me and give me the cash. That's how much of a trust worthy person he is. So I trust his word that he didn't let anyone or anything boost him. Riot wants players to get better at the game, and he truly did and unfortunately he got banned and has made a promise not to buy anything else from Riot. At first he was never going to play again but like me he's put hundreds on Hours plus Dollars in this game. The reason i'm a little upset is because I have seen people that deserved to be banned on Tribunal not get banned but players that actually needed to get banned never did. This is a false accusation that needs to be addressed,
