Draaaaaaven???

Hi guys, I'm new to the game and Draven was actually the champ that got me all started with LOL. I really want to get good with him but for the life of me I cannot catch his axes with anything near efficiency. Is there a trick to it like clicking way away from it but in a straight line? I always end up clicking on extraneous objects like minions or monsters in cluttered team fights. Thanks all for the help, much appreciation!
