What is this ranking system?

So hears the story. My friend and I are both Bronze 1. We are both in our promos. We both win 2 of our promos then proceed to lose the next 3 games. It's okay you win some you lose some. What I do not understand is when we get out of game he is left with 90 LP while I am left with 71 LP. So where before hand we were both able to stay equal with our ranking climb he now is effectively 1 win away from promos while I am now 2 wins away. What was once equal has now put him ahead of me in every way. Now I do realize that his win rate is higher than mine. But before hand we were accruing the same amount of LP which made it capable for us to rank together at the same pace as friends would do. So if we continue to accrue it at the same pace and same amounts then again as said previously he will always be effectively ahead of me.

Here is the kicker. On another account I wanted to do an experiment with this. So i set up the same conditions I had with my friend to be able to rank at the same pace. Again I noticed the LP drop after losing promo's to be of significance. Not only that but where I was earning the same amount of LP before hand after I was no longer receiving the same amount of LP so as to keep up. So now not only did I get set further back than my friend after promos being lost but I am now at a disadvantage of never keeping up because he will be receiving 3-5 LP more than me a game. (For those that need math that's the difference between 4 games to promos and 5 games to promos) So if this holds up that means that unless I play with out my friend when he is not playing and win, also making sure he is not playing or at least losing then I will never be able to keep up with him. I will probably end up being 2-3 steps in the ladder down from him.

So what is this ranking system and why does it punish some harder than others?

The system not only measures win rate.

You need to understand that the role that YOU are playing is different from the role your friend is. You won't Rank up as fast as a support than you would as a Jungler. The KDA of a support is different comparing it to the jungler. Same goes for damage, same goes for objective control, warding, gold gains, etc etc.

I've noticed you play as support sometimes, unless this is another account that you use. In order to increase your LP gains and diminish the LP that you lost, you need AGAIN to prove to the system that YOU are not underperforming BY winning by any means necessary.

If you are playing at lower elos, please consider other type of "supports" or Role.

If you are confident enough, play solo Q mid lane. If, IF, you really want to climb just for the sake of climbing, I strongly suggest you play mid lane with the meta rooster available and one trick your way up. Mid lane and jungle hold the fate of today's league matches, along with maybe a half brained bot lane.

Okay so when I went for the experiment on another account I still played support but my win rate was exactly the same as my friends. Now if I have the same win rate as my friend why is it that as me playing support I am receiving less LP than my friend? Why am I being punished for actually wanting to support my friend rather than play a carrying role (which I generally still get awarded MVP on op.gg)? I understand that gold gains, KDA, damage, warding etc. will all be different compared to a carry role. I should not have to prove anything to the system though. Especially when I rarely rank and usually only with my friend. I am not being boosted. My friend is not smurfing. There is no reason that I should be punished for doing my job as a support i.e. dieing more often than my adc because I save them from a bad situation. There is no reason my LP gains should be less than his or that I get punished harder for losses in promos than him. What this is basically telling me is that if I am not the highest damage with the best KDA on my team when we win then everything I did during that match was just not as good as those that did have a high KDA and damage. But I find that fully unfair. Especially since they wouldn't have those high KDA and damage half the time without me. Especially when I am the hard engage and peal so they can get off that damage with out dieing. I find this ranking system to be unfair if I am to be at the same win rate yet be punished because I am doing my job as the support. Riot needs to come out and expressly sit down and tell people what it is that is earning them the highest LP gains possible instead of leaving it a secret or pushing a system that doesn't reward you for actually doing well no matter the character or position you play.
