Bad Matchmaking is the Topic of the Week

I can't even fathom how this game gets created through the matchmaking system. These are the games where all of my friends stop playing after because it feels so bad to get destroyed by players that feel light years ahead of you in skill. Maybe if this type of matchmaking occurred every 1/100 games it would be more palatable, but currently it feels like this is every 1/3 games. I'm at a loss for what to do, I want to play league, but I also want fair matchmaking, and those two things just don't seem to coexist. I'm hoping someone at Riot can take a look at this post and explain how this type of matchmaking occurs so consistently for me because getting smashed by diamonds is really diminishing my drive to play league. A lot of my friends have said my accounts mmr has been extremely contorted and should just make a new one, but I've put a lot of time into this account and don't want to just throw it away. Please help rito.

The MMR for Normals and Ranked are not shared. Some reds where looking at splashing Ranked MMR into normal but they already where making massive changes this season (most of which backfired imo) So looks like it got scrapped.

End of the day MM has to make a match. Normal are very lax about their range and I don't think its unfair for me to say that they likely prioritize que times strongly. When your running 5 man premade there's not a lot of wiggle room for the system. Your team has its averaged MMR and that value cant be raised or lowered by pulling other players into the game.

Don't expect quality MM from normal. Sucks to use that as a cop out but that's what it is. Its slightly better then custom games with 100% Rng for matchmaker.

If you want to lower your normal MMR naturally. Don't que with friends and start learning some new champions. your win% almost always Tanks when your learning. Another good way to Tank MMR with out throwing is to grab a friend whos awful and start queuing with them as you teach them mechanics.

Both are semi productive ways to consistently lose MMR. 1 widens your pool and 2 makes some one else a better player. Much better then inting over and over which is something Smurf accounts commonly do to get to a lower range to pub stomp.

No idea if you will find it help full but heres Riots post last time MM was a hot topic. https://nexus.leagueoflegends.com/en-us/2018/02/dev-matchmaking-real-talk/.

Honestly I think Player behaviors the current Bane of the game at the moment but improved MM only benefits all of us.

You know the story about Faker (skt mid laner) playing normals until the queue time got so unbearably long (high mmr) went on to play ranked and stomped everyone ?

Yeah the mmr/ladder isn't the same.

More news at 9.
