Break Free from the Meta, People!

So, I have played about half of the characters on LoL at this point, and I have to say, Malzahar is by far my favorite character. He looks cool, has great lane control, and his ult will destroy unprepared players. There's just one problem. I think he is best played on bottom lane.

<waits for hate comments>

I can't tell you how many games I have played as Malzahar on the bottom lane, only to spend the first 10-15 minutes getting chewed out for DARING to break meta and take Malzahar slumming in the bottom lanes, with <gasp> Clarity, no less. I literally have played games where my K/D spread is +17, but I have been shaking with anger from the hatred I get from players on my team.

People, break free from the meta. There is nothing more satisfying than killing a bot lane support player who simply does not understand how devastating Malzahar's "E" can be when paired with Ignite, and then watching that snowball into a minute 5 turret takedown. And yet, people are happier screaming "foul" than trusting that maybe, JUST MAYBE, we should play who we are good as, on the lane we are best in. Malzahar with Clarity, what a fool! It's not like his "Q" (which has shut down many a three man push with its silence effect) uses up roughly 1/4 of his mana at low levels...

Maybe this is just an angry rant, maybe I want people to open their minds, I don't know anymore. But please, next time you see Malzahar bottom or Blitzcrank mid or whatever crazy $*%@ someone throws out, take the time to simply ask, "Hey, are you sure you know what you are doing?" And if they say "YUP!" then have some faith, and remember that it's just a game.

Most of the anger is not actually about you trying to break the meta. People who believe that the meta is the only way to go are actually few and far between. Most of the angry people are simply people who have seen people try to break the meta and fail one too many times.

You're just one of the unlucky people who are good at it and have to deal with the reputation given to you by all the bad attempts.

Yes, there are some unlabeled champions that do great as a support. Maokai is ridiculous as a support.

Still going to give you the evil eye because Malzahar is ridiculous as is (he needs a rework, at the very least his ult.)

See Garen jungle? Don't bother See Jayce ADC? Just another brick in the wall See Nasus support? Slow good. See Gnar mid? Eh, the passive will show See Ryze top? Ok, get out of there, ryze, your a mage, not a toplaner. gawd

Why would you even want to take the turret so early? Thats just giving the opponents a safer lane to farm in and giving them more reliable gold. Sure its good for the short run, but its worse in the long run.

I love trying out new things cause I get bored of playing the same champ and having no challenge. But I WILL admit when a champ doesn't work as support. People get pissed when I go AP MF, yet item 3116 & item 3151 make her ult and bullet rain piss off the enemy. Supp GP hasnt worked so well for me, cause I can't really defend my ADC; same with Shaco. Support Gnar is fun :3 Azir support is half and half . Nasus (with item 3401 ) is pretty good. Jinx is super fun & Shen makes the lane pretty healthy ;). Vel'koz is also pretty good as supp, you can ult low hp enemies from outside tower range or next to the lane wall. Fiddle is ridiculous as support XD With Teemo, is really depends on how you play him, because he is really squishy; but in late game you can just focus on putting shrooms.

Thank you!

My favorite thing to do is take Irelia bottom lane with my brother as Talon. It's not the best early-game match-up, but by ten to fifteen minutes in, we're typically carrying the team hard. I hate having to listen to people yelling at me that Irelia is a top only champ. So I'm glad there are other meta-breakers out there. (I know there are, but it's nice to actually see one.)

I used to use Clarity, but I don't anymore. I still have, may, and will again, but the circumstances I use it are literally nothing like before. As an AP Support if you find yourself running out of mana in lane, ask yourself this?

A) Should I bring Clarity spell with me, free insta mana regen so I can keep using spells? B) Should I use another spell and invest in buying Mana Pots to help me sustain? C) Should I stop and consider that I am maybe spamming my abilities too quickly, or not using them at the proper times?

I find for myself, C) to be the most useful. If you can do C, you can avoid Clarity and save 35g a pot on Mana blues. If you can learn to not "hold the trigger" but fire in "short, sustained bursts" as we are taught to fire a rifle, you maybe find you can better manage your mana pool.

Now some champs are exception. Some have too small a mana pool and need sustain. Some have moves that just cost CHUNKS of mana no matter what. Some people have moves on such a short cd we can't help but to be tempted to use (and spam) them whenever they are available. Some champions require combo spell casting, and a near full mana bar. These champs have subar poke and harass, alone their moves have small to menial effect. They are designed to generate an opening to combo their entire spell set for high burst. Lacking the full mana to cast the entire combo results in 1 or more spells unable to be used and thus a failed engage.

Clarity is like a crutch. It is useful. It helps you. But when you learn to walk without the crutch, you become stronger. Learning to play without Clarity will reward you as a player greatly, though some champs STILL are gonna want Clarity. Tp/Flash is the standard spell set for Top Laners. But I will tae exhaust/ignite on a Darius if I feel confident I can snowball myself and OR, OR, shutdown an enemy snowballing champ.

ad carry yasuo

your blitz cant grap be your leona cant dash to me your thresh cant hook me your poke gets neglected by my shield i have powerspikes you cant handle i snowball harder i scale better with gold i can easily capitalize on any cc my suport lands even if its not a knockup i can farm from range i can fill your role as a tank buster while also being an assasin who removes you in one second

owerall yasuo is safer on botlane depsite the poke intensity beign bigger, he has variuous tools to deal with ranged opponents, and with the opponents that rely on projectiles to actualy use their power

which is most of botlane combos the only thing i would fear is annie with a little bit of lulu (if she stucks pix on me i cant block it and the damage is harsh)

i don't understand why you want malz bot, since his ult is dueling skill. I prefer take him top lane
