Why doesn't Braum's shield block damage from jungle monsters?

I've been playing a fair amount of jungle Braum recently and couldn't help, but be confused by the fact that his shield doesn't interact with jungle monsters. Yasuo's windwall blocks incoming jungle monster attacks, so why shouldn't Braum's?
