Frustration grows with this community

I've been increasingly frustrated with the league community of late, and my one game last night only reinforced that. I got off work late but ready to put 3 or 4 games in before turning in. Unfortunately my ISP decided to give me crazy pings of 3k+, which forced me to restart my router, which eventually fixed the issue, but not before I missed 10 minutes of time as Warwick jungle. Immediately our Nautilus begins insulting me for being a troll and not playing my role well. I would have loved to gank as usual, but the level difference was a fairly significant hindrance to that. Long story short he goes toxic on me for the remainder of the game and requests a report on me in the post-game lobby. Obviously this wasn't my ideal situation (or my best game for that matter), but I think generally I'm a pretty good player, and my stats support that. End result was I played 1 game, it wasn't fun, I called it a night. Looking back, I mostly blame myself for allowing toxic players to get into my head.

How do you guys deal with this? Should I be more liberal with my mute? I usually hesitate to do so because I frequently try to facilitate the game through chat. But at this point the amount of toxic/trolly players is starting to get to me. The point of League should be to have fun, and when it's going well and your team is supportive, it's great. Unfortunately it seems to be that way less and less. It feels like so many people have a loser mentality. I can't tell you how often I see "gg" following a bad play less than 10 minutes in the game! Sorry for the long rant guys, I'm sure this could have been more concise, but needed to get it off my chest. Maybe this should've been a plea to the community. This is truly a great game when it's players are respectful and help each other, but too often this isn't the case. So please, don't rage. Be supportive of bad play by providing tips or encouragement. When someone is playing well, tell them. Try to be mindful that your actions and words have a huge impact on other players' experience.

I play a 15 minute custom against bots before playing ranked just to test my connection.

Staying that long tests your ping, if you have any delays and your network stability. It's also a good warm up for your mechanics.

If somebody on your team can't understand that you have connectivity issues then chances are they aren't bright at all. Don't let them drag you down to their level.

i was trying zed for the first time in a 3v3 normal game.

one guy said i should kill myself then went on to the other team saying im purposly feeding, very toxic and blah blah blah. honnestly. I REALLLLLLYYYY think Riot should have paid players, sub rioters who plays in game TO SPOT these people and just insta ban them or write something to them or talk to them calmly. a lot of these people are reasonable but the game makes them tilt too much.
