Does anyone else think that adding a delay to Veigar's E will ruin him?

I sincerely doubt that he will be able to lane against any champion with any kind of mobility ability if his stun isn't instant. He definitely won't be able to survive ganks. Also trying to smartcast his E was like the most fun part of playing his kit. The proposed changes are really upsetting and seem to be missing the whole point of why Veigar is fun to play.

delayed stun will ruin him, how will you land those meteors on anyone? Even now people can jump or even walk away from meteor with tenacity. Ugh this change makes no sense

Isn't it funny that Riot wants more Dark Matter falling on people, but then makes it harder to land them by way of making the stun harder to hit?

If the cast time on W was shorter I might be less worried about the E changes. As it is I think Veigar's kit is being distilled down to a Q and an R.

Not delayed stun is ruining him. He is an underwhelming champion because he has too much power on that ability. Letting his E be reasonable will allow them to buff this champ in other ways.

Well honestly I like that they're trying to fix the "auto stun get free 100-0 hue" playstyle of the current Veigar and the delay on the stun provides at least some counter play, something people don't have against a Veigar atm.

And don't get me wrong I do not think this change will "ruin him," I'm not so over dramatic as that, but it does seem a bit much. Either reduce the delay, so people have a warning still so they can react, but not like walk right over the indicator with enough time to escape before it goes up, or give it a slowing field similar to Viktor's to provide Veigar more of a means of disengage.

As for landing his meteor, they might need to increase it's falling speed a tad, but if a target gets stunned you'll still have as much time to hit the meteor as before, so I don't find this to be that big of an issue.

And honestly the Q change seems pretty cool, a good Veigar will be able to stack AP a lot faster then before making the new one even more powerful.

calling that auto stun isnt righ as you have to actually hit it, it is easy when people walk in to it themselves and thats how 80% of stuns happen, but try to land a stun when someone (Ahri Akali Diana Fizz Leblanc Lissandra Zed) jumps on you midlane, and if you do chances are meteor still wont hit em. I am not fantasizing about what riot will add to champ to fix things, they wont

Also we must consider his kit change, nerfing his stun, ulti and changing Q to lux snare type skillshot, more often than not that is huge damage nerf, they walk out of E, meteor misses well you probably land your q but with ulti nerfed none will die :) And to add to this all his skills are channelled and telegraphed, delay on stun simply wont work.

On other hand longer range and skill shot Q will open more possibilities for him, and will be great in teamfights

I never said it wasn't a nerf and ofc his counters will as always remain his counters, I'm just saying it hasn't "ruined" him like so many people claim it to have done.

Basically he won't be so much of a "hit massive AoE stun, blow all skills on that person and they die before stun is up" and more of a skill shot focused teamfighting AoE AP destroyer. Riot has for a while now been trying to remove the whole "100-0 and no counter play at all!" playstyle of so many top tier mid champs, and this change will do that and people who aren't used to enemies actually being able to counter play them will suffer and claim Riot ruined them.

The others who are actually good will get used to this new Veigar and could become even more of a carry then the old Veigar was.

I do not think he will ever be the same,

Q change opens up new possibilities for sure and brings new maluses at the same time, people and minions will block it, heck in some scenarios you wont be able to trade if intended target stands behind minions.

W will be many times harder to hit without somewhat reliable stun.

E everyone talk about how this stun is so op no counterplay and so on, yet try it yourself pick him up and watch how you land your stuns, everyone who plays without scripts miss most of them and only stun if victim walks into it himself, thats how you actually stun most of the time and thats how you have counterplay. More than i doubledashQ you dead in 0.4 seconds or i lolcharmudead.

Well maybe they update his cast points so that it doesn't end up so bad as it looks now on paper, we have to wait and see i guess

First off I have played Veigar, and hitting his E stun seemed stupidly easy to me, an instantaneous AoE line stun where you can see where the line of stun will be when cast. Again I thought it was extremely easy to land, I'm no Veigar main though so I found myself too far to cast my other spells sometimes after hitting my stun which was my issue.

Secondly, you're only focusing on the negatives of each change. Ofc when you rattle off everything that COULD make him worse and COULD make him harder it makes it look like an awful change to anyone reading. If you'd actually include the possible good aspects of these changes, mainly how his Q stacking could potentially DOUBLE in rate and make DFG just a useless item of the past then it wouldn't seem to so bad.

Cause it isn't.

There's too much mobility pumped into champions yet there's too much stun / range in Vei's E so one of them have to be changed.

But not with a delay.
