Best Midlaners to Climb???

So I played my placements and I placed Bronze 1 and this is my first season of League. I'm wondering what are some good champions to climb out of Bronze and up to maybe mid or high Gold.

Honestly my personal approach has always been to play oppressive characters who can heavily punish mistakes, as they are far more likely to happen in lower divisions - Characters like Orianna, Akali, LeBlanc, Katarina, Talon, Fizz, anyone who can punish the opponent taking a step in the wrong direction, basically, and can translate their lead into roaming and huge damage.

Given you're bronze yourself, it is also recommendable that you play a character who has a dash or some sort of escape tool in their kit. (Not trying to be rude, it's just a helpful thing to have as you improve)

Alternatively you can play a character who actively shuts down heavy aggression, such as Malzahar, who is notoriously difficult to 1v1 successfully due to his ultimate. The reason I mention this, is because at lower divisions people tend to play a -lot- less conservatively, most people are trying to pick fights constantly, and if you play somebody who has an inbuilt way to utterly shut down reckless aggression, you can probably take advantage of a lot of people.

I would also make a point of avoiding high skill cap characters if you aren't committed to spending a lot of time learning them, such as for instance, Taliyah, who while fantastic, also requires a good number of games to play proficiently.

Overall I would suggest Malzahar, he is easy to play, has an inbuilt easy way to farm, has insane dueling potential, high teamfight damage, can choose to invest his damage into melting a tank, or a damage threat. (Usually you want to go for the damage threat obviously, but the option is there) and his E bounces to other targets on kill, which in a teamfight can cause absolute chaos. The only downside is he has no escape tool, which if you play patiently is not an issue.

Is Akali a good champion to play in ranked? Is she easy to shutdown and is she easy to play?

Vladimir Fizz Annie Swain Brand Talon Malzahar

Chogath one-tricked him before all the reworks they did on him but if he's not banned don't hesitate he's even stronger now.

As someone whose played midlane as of late I can probably give you a few to try:

Veigar : Working off the idea that many of the people you face lack the proper way to lane properly, veigar isn't actually that bad into the majority of things not named kassadin/annie (I usually ban the latter). Not only does he provide an aoe cc to avoid potential ganks, but because you'll rarely see tanks he can often get into that 'one shot mode' quite safely. Would reccomend building an all-purpose AP rune page for him and running stormraiders (will provide my AP page if you're interested).

Illaoi : After hearing that this was getting popular in the higher tiers as a hard-counter to control mages, I decided to give it a try and can honestly say that it isn't half bad. Being an AD lane bully who can 1v2 quite easily and provides the ability to bully in lane with e/q-poke, Illaoi has essentially become my "go-to" zed/yasuo as well as she can snowball quite hard and quite fast off things not prepared for it. I tend to run my standard 15-12-9 runepage for her, and typically go DFT while maxing Q first to enable pretty safe and easy waveclear.

AurelionSol Best champ all the way to beyond Diamond. Straight forward kit with straight forward strength. May take like 10 games to understand his kit and possiblely going 0-10 with him everytime, but after you grasp his kit he is the if not best midlaner to carry at any elo.

No... Playing Sol in low elo will not allow you to properly learn the game. Besides, Aurelion Sol is a champion that takes closer to 30 - 50 games to understand properly, and another 100 to master, probably even more in Plat and below.
