Choosing a Trial during champ select doesn't allow you to get into the game

I was in champ select and selected the council before locking my champion in. When it came time to go into loading screen I never made it. I tried to close my client and login again but I didn't get placed into my game and didn't have an option to reconnect. Has anyone else done this?
